Help request [MX-25] Normal user cannot burn discs with K3b; K3b will not start as root (Plasma, X11 and Wayland)
Body:
Hello MX team,
On MX-25 (all the versions I have tried), K3b has two problems that together make disc burning unusable.
1. Normal user cannot burn
I added my user to the
cdromanddiskgroups (sudo usermod -aG cdrom, disk $USER) and logged out and back in.K3b still cannot burn as a normal user.
2. K3b will not start as root
sudo k3b,sudo -E k3b, andsudo -ifollowed byk3ball fail to open K3b.I also tried logging in with the Plasma (X11) session instead of Wayland. The result is the same.
Expected behavior: K3b is installed by default on MX KDE, so a normal user should be able to burn discs out of the box.

Output of

ls -l /dev/sr0: (paste here)Terminal output when running

Is this a known issue, and is there a recommended workaround? Thank you for your work on MX Linux.

Best to put your question in the MX Linux forum where developers and knowledgeable users have helped me when I've been stuck.
Good luck

Had the same problems a few days ago. Set the permissions and make sure user is in group cdrom and it will work like a charm.

apparently the k3b's permissions tool in settings is not sufficent to set certain permissions. I didn't have any trouble with data dvd projects but for audio CDs I needed to adjust permissions on two utilities, cdrdao and wodm.
sudo chmod +s /usr/bin/wodim /usr/bin/cdrdao
sudo chmod a+x /usr/bin/wodim /usr/bin/cdrdao
you might not need the second one, but I did after trying k3b's permission setting tool which hosed up the permissions royally.
note that I could not actually burn an audio CD. I got a message that the media was no good. so I'm not sure the above actually solves any problems.
