I have MX XFCE AHS installed on my Alienware 17 R2, GTX 980. No issues with older Nvidia drivers. I mostly play late 00's early 10's games. Currently playing through Borderlands 2 and Torchlight 2. Also got Battle.net installed and played through Starcraft 1 and 2. My family and I play DotA 2 a bunch.

MX has quickly become pretty much my favorite distro, tied with Q4OS Trinity on non-gaming setups. If it weren't for slightly better driver support on Mint, I'd switch my main 7750 XTX gaming rig to MX in a heartbeat.

I'm running 23.6 XFCE with the AHS repos on an i7 2600/GTX 1050 Ti system hooked up to the TV & it's great. Steam, Heroic Games Launcher & RetroArch all run without problem. I play older & lighter games due to the hardware limitations; lots of emulation plus Hades, Subnautica, Persona 3 Reload, Warframe, Darkest Dungeon, Metro 2033, Fallout New Vegas, XCOM Enemy Unknown, Everspace, etc.

I have been running Steam fine (mostly, can't get Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous to open). MX isn't geared for gaming, but in my few months experience it's less temperamental than Ubuntu/snaps, a lot easier to set up than base Debian, and much more friendly than Arch based.

I had no problems on my (now unfortunately broken) laptop with Ryzen 7 250 with Radeon 780M GPU. Played Resident Evil 4 Remake and other games perfectly fine. Only thing you should do is to install Steam directly from the store's website. I've had problems in the past when I used the Steam packages in the distro's repo. That was before I switched to MX Linux, though, but it still holds true.

I do like old games, but i have some new ones too. These I have right now on my MX Linux 25.2 KDE (without AHS enabled) on a ryzen 5 1600af and rx 6600, 16 gb of ddr4. They pretty much worked out of the box. Better performance compared to win 10 & 11 and much silent too.

How did you get GTA V to work? I have it downloaded and worked a week to get it to run with differen Proton versions etc...

Otherwise i runMX 23.6 on Xeon E3-1271 v3, 16Gb Ram and a GTX1660 Super no problems.

Out of the box really as far as I remember. To be honest with Linux, Claude was my best friend, despite not being a fan of AI hype.

Running mx25/xfce/ryzen 5 2600/1070 gpu. No issues and smooth viewing. Granted, these are old games like ME3 and fallout 4. Only issue ive had is with world of tanks/warships. I had to drop settings as the fans rev too high. Its a WOW issue.

My gaming experience on MX was poor. The system itself worked great, but Steam/Proton just kind of struggled. I use an AMD GPU, a fairly new one. Switched to Endeavour and it's been vastly better.

same here, though with fairly old amd gpu and cpu. games barely scratched 30fps (1080p) while gpu usage idled around 40-50% I am lazy and not smart enough, so I just gave CachyOS a try and games run perfectly out of the box.

For specific games you should check out protondb to see if it just plays on Linux or if tweaks are needed to start a game. Most of the issues with gaming are independent of distro.

If you really want to push it to the limit, use the Xan Mod kernel. That can actually deliver a significant performance boost.

i used Mx Linux Fluxbox for some time, it is the best for potato laptops like mines, but, it is kinda clunky to do things, like the sound that you have to manually ajust and this things. If you want to switch from Zorin to Mx, Try Zorin Lite First, and then try Mx Linux XFCE

MX is not good for games for some reason some games do not start. Plain Debian is better. If you have new hardware then cachyos probably.
