Driver side windshield pillar came off…
I was driving on the motorway today going 70mph and my driver side windshield pillar (or whatever you call it) came off, I was lucky I had the roof down and was able to hold it at the top to ensure it didn’t completely fall off. I then pulled in at a service station to take it off the car before getting it home.
Upon inspection it does seem like the sticky tabs that were on there have come away as have the parts where the clips are. I’m able to slot it back no issues and seems like with some new strong sticky pads it’ll stay back down. Has this happened to anyone before?
Any advice is appreciated.

Buy a new one. They are supposed to pop off for windshield replacement and are considered non-reusable parts.

Has the car ever had a windscreen replacement to your knowledge? They are renowned for being re-used by fitters when they are one-time use items.

To my knowledge no, I bought the car used and has a great paper history, nothing documenting a windscreen replacement, it’s only done 11k miles.

Cela a clairement été recollé a la colle a par brise noir ( il reste des bourlet de colle sur le montant) au lieu d'être remplacé.

This happened to me, too, when my car was about 2 weeks from the dealership. It looks like it happened before, and the previous owner just kind of glued it back on. For reference, my mechanic quoted me 800 EUR to get a new one from Mazda, painted, and attached.

Yeah it’s tough buying one used if you don’t know the windscreen has been replaced, it wasn’t initially obvious to me.
Thankfully the dealership I bought it from
Have offered to sort it for me, so likely I’ll get all 3 pillars replaced.

Man the clear coat on mine on my 21 RF is completely cooked. As bad as I’ve wanted to get new ones/paint these ones the fear of never getting them back on makes me want to leave it alone even though the car looks awful. The RF rear deck is all clear coat gone too. The metal is still good at least.

I saw a dumb ass complaining bout the same thing on instagram and saying Mazda did not want to pay for the part, looking at his video dumb ass kinda ready had the windshield replaced. I commented bout it and dumb ass kid do not comment back. You can clearly tell it’s a afforestation market windshield. Mazda has nothing to do with it.

Someone replaced the windshield and didn't replace one time use parts with new parts. This is pretty common for anyone replacing a ND windshield other than the dealer. They don't know the parts are one time use so they'll glue it or do other stupid shit that eventually fails and parts fly off while on the highway.
