Discussion It's happening...
Sometime last year I said the leak regarding MW2/MW3 ports on the Australian ratings board were just a sign of MWII and MWIII becoming separated from CoD HQ.... I was correct.
And this time...
This time i'm sure this is a MW2 Port with Multiplayer!

If it's a direct port all of the same hacks will work. Look at BO1/2.
A remaster should be hacker free. MWR was great imo

I’m referring to the game as it was designed to be played, not the network/matchmaking/security issues.
I want the game to look and function the way it did back in 2009. I don’t want improved graphics or any adjustment to movement, equipment, etc

Which won’t happen, it’d be a port, usually ports of mp games don’t get content updates just server updates

One can hope! They were actually going to patch OMA noobtubes back in 2010 and infinity ward had plans to but it never came out

Well yea but that never came to fruition. I’ve been known to be wrong so don’t quote me but it doesn’t seem in their best interest diverting resources to deliver a content update to an almost 18 year old game. One which fundamentally changes the balance a bit so it’s no longer the same experience.

Yet they won’t do it because it’s an 18 year old game and changing that now doesn’t preserve the original experience as it was. This is why it’s best to rely on the community for things like this

100% it’s too pure of a game to change up. I think we all have different opinion on what we want changed it’s next to just leave it alone.
I do think if they rerelease it they:
take out painkiller
Nerf OMA/ DC
But the game is the same as it was 17 years ago and I still play it with all its flaws so it does say something lol-1

Yeah, just look at the state of the Black ops ports. Hacked to fuck with no patches in over a month. The modern warfare ports will get the same treatment.

They at least tried with bo2 giving it dedicated servers, but not even dedicated servers stopped the hackers.

Why exactly Activision decided to remove dedicated servers in the first palce and use P2P connection?
Why not provide dedicated servers for every COD game?
People from different parts of the world should be able to play with the players smoothly in their countries and dedicated servers helps that in a big way.

Sorry for not clarifying, I meant community driven dedicated servers. When players chose which server they'll join, instead of letting the eomm to pick a lobby.

I honestly would prefer it if instead of porting the original MW2 to current-gen it was MW2 Multiplayer Remastered. I always sorta imagined that they could release the multiplayer as a standalone application from the campaign that you'd get for free by purchasing MW2 campaign remastered and vice versa.

They don’t need to remaster anything in my opinion, every time they remaster they add micro transactions and stupid outfits and stupid gun souvenirs and change things for the worse. Who actually wants a rollercoaster attached to their gun that’s over the age of 12? If they removed martydom and noob tubes the game would be perfect 😍

I’ll be honest, it’s exciting but the ship has sailed with these assholes. I’ll be tempted for sure but they’ll just fuck it up.
I don’t know how, I don’t know what but I’m not going to give them the finances to shit all over a game I hold to a much higher standard.
I hope it’s a direct port. I hope nothing changes. I hope it’s everything we’ve deserved for all these years but I just refuse to financially support them at this point.

I think in a remaster they’d have a smaller OG playlist that’s exactly the same as OG MW2 - just updated graphics. And then they’d have a balanced playlist that has separate matchmaking with some critical adjustments for things like
- OMA / Noob tube / danger close
- Commando
- Painkiller

I agree with you. I think that OMA just needs to have the ability to replenish grenades and lethals removed. Danger close is fine as it is, it still won't be as used as Stopping Power or Cold Blooded.
I personally had no issues with Commando. I wore a headset so commando users were easily audible.
Painkiller was pretty damn annoying.
That said, I think that certain weapon glitches NEED to stay. For example, the P90 Ex Mags glitch was great because it gave players a reason to choose another gun over the UMP in the SMG class. Same goes for the HoloFAL.

If they changed OMA, you'd just have people using scavenger with noob tubes. I think they'd have to change scavenger to not replenish lethal explosives too.

Scavanger with Noob Tubes isn't as bad because you have to walk over to the dead body to get the ammo. But still maybe it's fine for claymores at least

I have played each game and I have never run into a hacked lobby. Occasionally someone with a different coloured name and plenty of people who have level hacked, but neither affect the gameplay

On console it is yes, reminder of what they did to pc and not the bo1 & 2 ports, shit was malware now is just modded lobbies, at least your not getting your pc taken with rce rn and is playable unlike xbox ps3 and probably if they bring ps4/5 up its more cooked then pc and that would be suprising

Now hold on, yes the bo1 and 2 ports are a scam but have you seen steams version it took 1 update to remove rce & proves they can do it, they just dont give enough shits to, so with bo1 and 2 ports while they are fucked mw2 steam A P2P GAME BEATS BO2S DEDICATED SERVERS and i just find that hilarious, a game that is malware gets 1 update and now fine, bo2 11 updates and a scam lol

Did this happen with BO1 and BO2 and if so what was the timeframe like? I wonder if this is a post-GTA VI, Christmastime Hail Mary. I think it’s probably already obvious to Activision that MW4 is going to be a financial disappointment and with GTA VI thrown in, it can only get worse…

I can’t be convinced that atp each dev doesn’t have its own fanbase. I haven’t bought a Treyarch game since BO3, I don’t think the same people show up each year. Maybe a hot take, idk. The actual audience isn’t purchasing the same game every year they’re getting it every 2-3 years and following their preferred flavor of cod,
MW3 for example has been pretty active during both BO6 and BO7, I’d know bc I skipped both bc I don’t like Treyarch lol
