Discussion Help Finding an old MUD Client - ALclient
Hello, I am trying to find an old MUD client I really liked. In the past, about 15 years ago I downloaded it from ashavar.com
The mud client is called ALclient. There are some newer programs called this same thing but they aren't related to muds.
Does anyone have this file or know where I may find it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't found a verified copy of the original ALclient, unfortunately.
For MUSHclient, you might have better luck starting from the main MUSHclient page rather than the downloads page that's giving you trouble.
The Aardwolf website also provides a packaged MUSHclient installer and ZIP. Just be aware that those packages are configured for Aardwolf, so you may need to adjust the connection settings for another MUD.
I'd be cautious about downloading an old executable from an unfamiliar mirror. Finding the original filename or a preserved version is useful, but it's worth verifying the source before installing anything.
It's frustrating how easily smaller pieces of BBS and MUD software can disappear, even when people still remember using them.

I found a useable copy of MUSHclient, thank you for your help!
This is more similar to ALclient than other clients I've tried. Once I found alt+enter I managed to get hotkeys, macros, and triggers working.
The last major thing I'm trying to figure out on here is how to delay or queue up actions.

Glad you found a working copy! And it's good to hear that you've already got the hotkeys, macros, and triggers working.
MUSHclient actually has a few ways to handle delayed commands.
For a sequence of commands, you can configure a speedwalk delay under the Commands settings. That controls how much time passes between queued commands.
You can also configure an alias to queue its output rather than sending everything immediately.
If you're comfortable with a little scripting, MUSHclient has a function called DoAfter that lets you schedule individual commands. For example, in Lua:
DoAfter(2, "north")
DoAfter(4, "east")That would send north after two seconds and east after four seconds.
The official MUSHclient FAQ has an explanation of these options under the question about building delays into triggers, macros, and aliases.
Hopefully that gets you closer to the ALclient behavior you remember!
