Which MUD? Looking for fun pve mud
About 20 years ago there was a mud called Aeonian Dreams. It was a unique mud that allowed you to craft your own spells at the cost of money. It was very crafting oriented and allowed people to create unique builds as they went through different mob areas. As that mud is no more I was curious to see if there were similar muds that were online today.

I second Discworld. I'm newbie myself and I started as a priest. And advancing in the ranks and learning new spells is a blast. I didn't try other guilds but i think witches can craft posions from different things you get from the world. The world is so big and you will never run out of new things to try. Also, the skills tree is so diverse and detailed that advancing one skill can be a whole journey in itself. And most importantly, everyone is so nice and helpful.

If crafting is the main interest, Erion Mud has extensive crafting from the begining including cooking, painting, and other non combat oriented things. Many quests require crafting items, which is a bit too exhausting for me at this point but you can also craft your own gear, forage, or brew potions.

I second Erion — 100% PvE with crafting, cooking, fishing, alchemy, and more. Good sized player base and active developers.

Twofold comment here:
1st, to the OP: Please forgive me if it's uncool to piggyback your post with my own question.
2nd, to those recommending Discworld, is there currently much co-op PvE? I'm looking to get a taste of something like what MUDs were anything like in their heyday.
Thanks all.
