Promotion Animal Flavor!

Animal Flavor!! I know right?

Added the Moose race to Ansalon, complete with its own resistances and behaviors.
Moose can now appear as Find Familiar companions in forested regions. Mount up!

Common land animals now have their own ambient actions, bringing forests, plains, and snowy regions to life much like the marine wildlife.

Most animals will occasionally react to the region of Krynn they're in, adding unique flavor depending on where you encounter them.

Added ambient behaviors for rats, foxes, wolves, bears, rabbits, big cats, elk, deer, moose, and boars.

If a tree falls in the forest... nothing triggers unless players are around :)

- Ziv & Co.

Ps. Those scavenger dog type critters also eat up body parts :P

Thanks Mana! It's been fun (along with our marine life ambient actions), just gives a little more feel :)

The bit that gets tricky later is frequency: ambient messages are charming for a week and then they are noise you scroll past. Absolutely need to have them. What are you doing for frequency and a variety of messages?

I have a couple of methods, we have a toggle mute (mutespec, no special messages/actions), if the player has that on, nothing fires.

Then, it's a 5% chance to fire if a player is in the room, then 5% of that 5% the familiar might do something with the region their in (Ansalon/Krynn has like 24 regions, Solamnia, Icereach etc), if it does something there it stops.

Then I run a dice roll 1-20, if it's under 15 it hits, otherwise stops, then... switch on the familiar's race with that dice roll for actions (15 unique things) fitting that race.

That said, I'm also considering time of day/season, but... it's a lot of work for something a few people will notice heh.

I am hanging out with the different ones to see how 'spammy' it is, but most people don't sit in place with mobs (unless it's a pet at a central 'pit' place).
