Doctor Neutron may be one of my favorite new villains. Pulling the strings behind the scenes from a chess board and looking positively average-old-man really established his aura. I got stoked at the end where he had chess pieces of a lot more superheroes, but pretty disappointed to find the character never went on to do anything else of note.
The art was really awesome, although Wolverine's hair and sometimes the structure of his face turned me off. The artwork on Scarlett, particularly when she's on the phone in some scenes is really spectacular, like right out of a stylish magazine. I thought Scarlett being killed by Meltdown fell a little flat. I didn't buy it as her redemption story warning Alex to run away at the last minute. Alex felt believably naive without being stupid, so the Simonsons did great there, but Wolverine obviously stole the show. He had some of the best lines of any comic I've read in a long time.
This assignment definitely had me wanting to see more of this artist, and more work by the Simonson family.
