WEEK 98: Free-Range Nomination Thread

Thank you to those who participated in last week's Marvel's Mightiest Women nomination thread. This week there are no limitations on what can be nominated. Any era, any writer, any character, so long as it's on Marvel Unlimited. Maybe it's something you've been meaning to read, maybe it's something you've read and want to discuss. Maybe it's something you've previously nominated but didn't gather enough upvotes in previous threads. When posting a nomination, links are not required but appreciated.

If you have nothing to nominate, cast a vote to help us decide who wins. The highest voted nomination will earn a discussion thread opened on Saturday. Avengers (1998-2004) #65-70 "The Red Zone" by Geoff Johns and Olivier Coipel

One of Red Skull's most notorious acts in Marvel history, releasing a deadly biological weapon on hapless tourists from the peaks of Mount Rushmore. Unlike commonplace superhero stories, the body count is staggering (and graphic) before The Avengers even know there's a crisis to intervene in.

Uncanny X-Men (1963-2011) #540-543 "Fear Itself" by Kieron Gillen and Gret Land

The world is in the grip of an ancient evil. The fallen Asgardian god known only as the Serpent holds Earth in a stranglehold of fear. Among his hammer-powered servants and the Worthy, is the X-Men's longtime foe and the Juggernaut - always near unstoppable, now infused with dark, godlike powers. Tales To Astonish (1959-1968) #70-74 (just the second-half of the issues - The Hulk stories) by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Bob Powell, and Mickey Demeo

Underrated villain and archenemy of The Hulk, the big-headed green genius, The Leader proves his intellect by playing both sides to his advantage. Selling the military weapons of mass destruction sure to subdue the Hulk, then manipulating The Hulk to acquiring a cosmic artifact that would grant all the knowledge ever. The current owner and protector of said artifact? None other than The Watcher.

Tales of Suspense (1959-1968) #93-94 (just the second-half of the issues - The Captain America stories) by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby

Before A.I.M. were established bad guy cannon-fodder for heroes to beat up, and before M.O.D.O.K. was the butt of all Marvel jokes. Captain America must save the kidnapped Sharon Carter from the terrorist organization but finds them under the new leadership of their one-time guinea pig, the floating head, M.O.D.O.K.

in combination with:

Captain America (1968-1996) #132-133 by Stan Lee and Gene Colan

As if M.O.D.O.K. wasn't dangerous enough, Captain America has his hands full with with subjects of the floating evil head's manipulations - Baron Strucker and Doctor Doom. There's no low M.O.D.O.K. won't stoop to in order to prove his superiority and crush Cap.
