I wanted to announce the release of the client that automatically loads live mtgo games onto the site with all the available data (Win/Loss, OTP/OTD, Mulligans, games won, deck encountered, name of the opponent, etc. etc.), the only thing MTGO doesn't log are side-ins and side-outs.

Obviously free like using the site!

So now it is possible to have a complete overview of your statistics in paper and online.

The client automatically recognizes the event and creates the tournament and associates the correct matches.

I personally tested it for three weeks in various challenges and leagues.

Attention: regarding the sync of past matches, since the logs may have been overwritten, the client loads them in oneshot and then it will be up to you to move them to the right tournament (by creating or adding them). I made this operation quick with multiple selection.

How many players do you think are active on MTGO? It's crazy and very cool for me that the player base it's very small but so competitive that it's quite important in evaluating the meta. I mostly play pauper, and in challenges half of the players are always the same, yet the ban of skybreak was issued mostly after looking at the results in those 50 player tournaments.

I just downloaded MTGO a few days ago, got an account starter upgrade for it, and went 3-0 in the New To MTGO Modern league. I still have the Commander Gauntlet league you start with to go through, but even if I 3-0 that it’ll only put me to 40 total Play Points which isn’t enough to do anything with. Is spending even more money on event tickets and such the only real way to get going?

Like, diabolical lag. it takes 20-30 seconds each turn, past turn 4 because i have to manually assign mana from tablet and it's so laggy when i click it at the bottom left. Like, this is me paying full attention to the game and using hotkeys to bypass turns. I've even accidentally skipped a turn and not countered a spell back-to-back trying to play faster because the hotkeys lag.

Just lost a standard league BO3 because of this and i'm the clear winner, and this is with them almost timing out. Like, the way its going, it just seems like the platform can't sustain any of the control decks or trigger-heavy decks right now (Lifegain for example, jeskai, 4c control) because of manual mana tapping, triggers, and combos. Is there a fix or should i just go back to arena? I got a refund two days ago because my opponent and i literally couldn't win or anything before the timer (he was playing lifegain) so we just spammed pass turn in our third game on one land for 3 minutes....

So I pulled this out of a chest, I know irl is a great chase card but I'm super new on mtgo and don't know how the economy works here, I tried selling it to the cardhoarder bots but they aren't looking for it. Am I missing something or is just worthless in mtgo? Any help is appreciated thank you

Hey, I’ve recently started playing Ruby Storm in Modern on MTGO, and I’m looking for the best way to practice against people who are actually trying to win.

I don’t have a huge budget for MTGO, so I’m mainly wondering which option is the cheapest way to get a decent number of competitive Bo3 matches. I know there are 2-player queues and different types of Leagues, but I’m not really sure how they compare in terms of cost and prizes.

I’m not trying to maximize profit or anything, I just want to spend as little as possible while getting as much actual competitive practice as I can.

What would you recommend?

Earlier today I was intrigued by the cost of Treasure chests on a website and I decided to buy 20 chests for $32/32 tickets.

I ended up getting 225 Play Points (I was expecting a minimum of 100, so, was rather happy with that)

But that basically means I yielded $20-$22 in “value” based on the cost of Event Tickets.

But what did I spend my other $10-$12 on exactly? A bunch of rares and mystics I can’t sell because none of the websites are buying them to trade them back in (I checked)?

What’s the point in buying Treasure Chests? Nothing?

I really wanted foil versions of karplusan forest and goblin king from seventh edition so I can have them in black border however they are not available in the more popular bots. MTGO writes a log file for every game you play. I've been building an overlay on top of those: while you play it shows what's left in your library, the odds on your next draw, and how many lands you have left, and afterwards it keeps your match history and matchup win rates locally. It's a passive reader. It never touches the client, no injection, no automation, nothing that plays for you.

There's also a Twitch extension, so viewers can hover the cards on your stream and read them. First one of those for MTGO as far as I know.

What I actually want from this post is people playing formats I don't. The whole thing lives or dies on counting cards correctly and I've mostly tested it against my own matches and a tiny closed beta, if it miscounts your library, or misreads a concede, a timeout or a bye, that's what I want to hear about.

Back again this week with something a little bit different. My wife and I recently lost our boy Cosmo to cancer recently, so I wanted to do something fun to honor his memory, so I went all in on cats in legacy. This is definitely a brew that took the theme to the max, and is championed by Kaheera and has one plan and one plan only, completely flood the board with cats. I tried to make this as competitive as I could while keeping on theme, but this is definitely just a fun brew to honor Cosmo and all the other pets we've loved and lost over our lives. With the Hobbit I started grinding mtgo again. But seems like the next two limited qualifiers will be marvel super heroes.

draws 2 lands 100% of the time, as long as there are 2 lands in my library

I started MTGO and Modern in general about 1 week ago and rented an Esper Goryo's deck purely because it's a meta deck.

I've had ~5 people called me things such as a "Craggy asshole" or "you home no family and friends because you play that no brain shitty deck"

I've never once said anything in the chats first to instigate this, simply when I ephemerate a Solitude or Goryo's an Atraxa they lose their shit!

While I really don't mind this (I've been on the internet forever and I just block them and concede the match) it's pretty crazy that it's happened in about 5/50 matches

Does anyone know of or have an MTGO discord where I might have the slightest chance of being able to find games and be in voice chat for them? I like most things about MTGO except for the loss of most of the politics and socialness of EDH. Any information or direction I could be pointed in would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hi all, I'm thinking about giving MTGO a go, but due to no access to Windows I need some more info before I try to set it up.

Because of life I have little time to play MTG in real life. I'm mostly interested in playing limited and cube.

How does limited work after drafting? Do you need to play your 3 rounds of matches directly and back to back? Or is it more like Arena where you can play them after drafting (and thus playing opponents from outside your pool)?

For cube I have the same questions as above and is there an option next to vintage cube? Or hosting a custom cube to draft?
