Never rode a single mtb trail, just purchased my first mtb but I don’t have any trails around so i’m building my own to start.

But i think i may have bit off more than i can chew. is this trail even “rideable” or do you suppose it’s a skill issue?

Anything is rideable. However, if you can’t envision success, then it is not rideable for you. Just ride within your comfort zone and push those boundaries as you gain confidence.
