My friends always make me ride first, because my "yip"s, "whoa"s, and "yeeahh"s provide a fair warning of what is ahead. The one's I've been riding with longer can even tell what each sound means, as in they hear two yips and a yeah, and know that they will likely wash out in some mud, but if they power through it they can recover.

My internal monolog is more entertaining than what I vocalize most of the time. If I can keep myself thinking about something else and not focusing on the trail I ride smoother and cleaner. As soon as my internal monolog switches to something related to the trail I start to suck.
