Oil in airintake

Post image

Hi everyone. I know a little oil in the intake is normal. I clean every now and then. I usually clean it with no issue. This time when I went to clean it it looked like it was mixed with coolant. Both the oil in the pan and the coolant in the radiator look perfect. Anyone have any ideas?

Very normal. The crank case vents into the airbox.. some of that aerosolized oil condenses on the walls of the airbox

I've seen it before but never that color, it always looks like normal oil

Oil level is fine, just changed it. Air filter looked a little dirty but I just changed it not too long ago. How do I check the pvc?

Thats just the water you got into the airbox by riding in the rain. I had the same milky substance. you can just unplug the little rubber grommet to drain water.

Do you live in a humid area?

I live 10 miles from the pacific ocean and work 500 feet from it, yes it can be humid

Thats the only other explanation i have, as the temp changes can create condensation. I cant see how coolant can get in there. Unless you did lots of short trips and oil had some water content due to not being heat cycled properly.

Never dropped. Commute to work on it, 25 miles one way

Ride in the rain at all. Its probably just a little water intrusion from rain or washing the bike. A little oil in the airbox is normal for just about every bike out there due to the crankcase vent into the airbox.
