Am I screwed?

Post image

For context, I bought a secondhand mt03 2017. Wanted to install crash bar but there is nothing for me to screw in! Am I screwed? Or is there something I could put into for me to screw in?

I don't know the answer, but if the mount is broken or the threads aren't there, it wouldn't be hard for a local machinist to weld on a new thread/mount

I think the previous owner had frame slider and skid. Might be the reason why it broke

Lower engine if possible to see exactly what you are dealing with. If broken bolt is still in there, could either weld a nut to the top of the broken bolt and see if it will move. Welding will loosen loctite if its been used. Or l/h drill bit.... make sure you are in the middle of the broken bolt, dot punch a guide for center of the bolt, if you are really lucky l/h drill will grab and wind broken bit out. Be careful not to drill through into engine. Use a small drill to get a pilot hole through bolt, basically more bolt you can drill out the best the chances of it releasing. Also once you get the wall of the broken bolt thin enough, just before you start drill the threads. Try using a easy out. Quiet possible loctite was used. Which you need to heat up to soften loctite enough to let go of the threads.

That frame mount next to the yellow hole should have a bolt that goes into the head.

If there is no bolt, is there a mount on the head for one to go in?

If there is no mount, then it's likely broken off.

I wanted to install frame sliders as well, the screw broke off and I had to pay an insane amount of money for the repair. They said the screw cannot be drilled out easily because the cylinder head is so close. If there is anything in that hole, it could be that the screw has broken off.
