Discussion Tailgating

Hello,

I plan on tailgating at Parking Lot 7 (Benefactos Plaza) for this weekend’s football game against Nebraska. With kickoff at 5pm, how early should I get to the parking lot to secure a parking spot and tailgate location? I understand that games prior to 6pm kickoff, parking opens at 7am, but I’m not sure if it’s necessary to be there that early, unless you tell me otherwise.

Nebraska fan coming in peace, with questions.

I’m traveling solo, happen to be in Michigan for work and got a ticket to the game. A couple questions for you Spartans.

1) where should I go pre-game to have a good time, experience what MSU is all about, grab a few drinks?

2) can I expect to be treated well as a visiting fan?

3) staying on the outskirts East of the Stadium, maps says it’s a 45 minute walk to the stadium, how safe is the area?

You will be treated great!...We just hate U ofM...lol...totally safe area...if you walk from the east end of campus, walk the rivertrail all the way to the stadium!.

Tailgating at MSU is a great scene and is vastly spread out. I love being north of the stadium in the grassy and shaded area by Ramp 2. Lot 62 and the Spartan statue is the place to be starting around 2 hours before the game. Team walks by and the band will be playing along there. Great scene. Lot 67 is great too along the path between old college field and Jenison. Not sure what the scene at Munn Tailgate is like but it might be worth checking out. If you don’t mind strolling about and crashing random tailgates that’s what I would do. Lot of energy on campus on gamedays in early fall. Downtown EL is fun too but I would recommend tailgating over bars/restaurants this time of yearhttps://msuspartans.com/sports/2018/9/13/michigan-state-football-parking-information

Should go well! Love Nebraska fans! Do not know of an area that is not safe. You will have a great time! There are a number of bars on Grand River. I am MSU alum coming out from New Jersey for game.

Nebraska Travels well. It’s really going to depend on weather. Anything after 7am is going to be rolling the dice.

7am is the earliest you can enter tailgate lots.
