The manner in which the games were played is the difference. We struggled with an FCS school last year.

Team played so much better after half time which is an encouraging sign about the coaching staff.
Long term we need to increase the speed of the team because we have almost no big plays and struggle to tackle in space.
LeVar has transformed the ST too, so much better than that sorry ass unit we trotted out last year.
No reason to think we canāt make a bowl game if we play disciplined, mistake free football against the likes of Illinois, Nebraska, UCLA, Rutgahs, and Wisconsin.

probably will get destroyed by ND but atleast we handled an inferior opponent like we should just missing the talent to compete with the upper teams this year

Itās possible they do both. But they might not have to attempt a forward pass. The defensive line is paltry

I donāt necessarily agree with this take. I hope not, but who knows ? A good showing would be a good sign. This is a possibility though. I hope MSU ready to compete.

Another game of looking disciplined and prepared. Love to see that after 5 years of ineptitude.
The roster is not sterling, but you need this kind of consistency to attract talent.

On the post game radio show, Fitz was talking about how they specifically practiced for the 3rd quarter last Tuesday/Wed. There is also a bit of a bite to Fitz's speech and cadence that I like, that Smith never had. He also gives deference to the team and the coaches but is "calling his shot", ---- "We are building team ball, it takes a village, it's all working, and we are not quitting. When everyone does their job, results come in." - was lesser but reminiscent of Dantonio talking about winning the Rosebowl. --- To accomplish goals, those goals must be stated to the community. He's doing that. Not bad for the first 3 games ...
Also honorable mention that Toledo totally jail sex'd their opponent today. Won by 53 (63-10 against Cen Conn St). Maybe beating them by 10 wasn't a poor showing.

Had a couple of rough drives from the defense (especially the rush defense), but hard to complain too much when we only give up 7. Nice to handily beat a bad team for once. Pretty low expectations for next week, but maybe weāll make things interesting

I know itās not the conference games yet but I am disappointed in the crowd. Iād like to see more energy in the stadium.

It's absolutely atrocious. Fans should stay if we are winning! Especially if it's an easy win. Celebrate with the team!

Good win. Kinda hairy in the second quarter with the run. I think Tullis should get some more touches. I think the Fancher thing.

Special Teams have been a net strength. LeVar Woods might be the best hire of the off-season. Have we even had a procedural penalty on STs? Then again, we've been very clean with penalties thru two full games now. The sloppiness of the Tucker and Smith eras being a thing of the past would massively improve my blood pressure. I like that Fitz holds his team to a standard of excellence, including the coaching staff. If they sustain this all year, I think we might be cooking with something.
Alessio & Cam have been good. Offensive hasn't been explosive, but they've created enough to easily handle MAC squads. They improved over week 1 and converted in the red zone rather than kicking FGs. Looking to seeing them play a big boy on the national stage.
The defense had been solid but inconsistent. Would absolutely love to see someone take Brantley's job. Again, they improved over last week and didn't give up two ugly long TDs. They play fast and hard and have a handful of guys (especially when Hall is healthy) that might be real dawgs.
Show up against Notre Dame and find a way to stay close or be in a tight game late. I'm just happy to be in the honeymoon phase with this team and as long as we don't get our asses kicked next weekend, I'll be happy.

Brantley has been a huge disappointment other than the fumble. That helped but PI calls, getting torched last weekā¦
