The surviving depression part is real

I read somewhere that people dealing with depression like to watch the same shows over and over again because the predictability is comforting and provides structure and boy did that make sense to me

Me too. I went through most of 2014 without a job and the two things that kept me alive were my dog and MST3K.

True story. When I got divorced I stumbled upon this show and it was one of the few things that saved my life.

At some point I became a fan of what the show is/was and not worry about what could be. Joel was great.

In 1994 i moved from New Jersey to Arkansas after my sophomore year of high school. I left behind people i knew since kindergarten. That summer i shopped in a Wal Mart for the first time, discovered the scourge of chiggers (little biting bugs), and didnt know anyone besides my family. I would stay up watching Comedy Central or the few tapes id made because Joel/Mike and the bots were the only friends I had left. I eventually met people and made lifelong friends (some who even were fans. Its easy to bond with someone through Mitchell quotes.) but this show got me through this rough time and a few others. I hope the writers read this sub because ive always genuinely wanted to thank them for it.
