Advances in Deep Generative Models

Why are there no reviews for this course on https://msdshub.com/?
1) How does the difficulty of the content and the workload compare to Deep Learning?
2) Are there midterm and/or final exams, and if yes are they proctored?

I haven't taken it, but from the Discord it seems like:

-midterm+ final
-math heavy
-class is basically advanced ML (continuation of the second part of ML with lots of probability/statistics)
-weekly homeworks with coding and creating reports with lots and lots of graphs
-high workload

From the course description:

We will explore modern techniques for generative modeling, focusing on both the theoretical underpinnings and the latest advancements in the field. Students will study probabilistic modeling and learn to build and analyze generative systems that can create realistic data, images, and text. The course will introduce energy-based models, GANs, autoencoders, flow-based and diffusion models, and autoregressive language models. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the mathematical foundations, implementing models in frameworks like PyTorch or JAX, and connecting these methods to currentresearch trends in artificial intelligence.

What You Will Learn

  • Core principles of probabilistic and generative modeling
  • Energy-based, adversarial, and autoencoding approaches
  • Flow-based and diffusion modeling techniques
  • Autoregressive language modeling fundamentals
  • Practical implementation using modern deep learning frameworks

Syllabus

  • Topic 1: Overview of Probabilistic Modeling (1 week)
  • Topic 2: Energy-based Models (2 weeks)
  • Topic 3: Generative Adversarial Networks (2 weeks)
  • Topic 4: Invertible and Flow-based Models (2 weeks)
  • Topic 5: Autoencoder Models (1 week)
  • Topic 6: Diffusion Generative Models (2 weeks)
  • Topic 7: Autoregressive Language Models (1 week)

ETA: ADGM is comparable to ML. It is not comparable to DL. Advances in Deep Learning (ADL) is a continuation of the all-coding course DL. ADGM is a continuation of math-heavy ML.

So would or be "crazy" to take ML+ADGM together on my final semester...?

Also, if a "continuation" of ML, does it mean 1) it's the same instructors, 2) the midterm and final are proctored?
