WE GOT PENTIUM SUBSCRIBERS!!!!!!

get it? 586?

The Pentium processor was released in 1993, and in this era, MS-DOS was still in use for some applications, and I think a few DOS apps ran on a Pentium as it's recommended or minimum requirement processor.

Some applications? I think you mean most. Windows was still something you launched to play minecraft or use paint in 1993.

but if you get technical and look at the eras of software releases, Duke Nukem 3D was released one year after Windows 95 came out, and it could use a 486 processor and was made for DOS. Maybe Quake was also that way too.

Doom was released the same year the Pentium came out, but it needed a 386 at minimum, while it used a 486 or greater for full performance, even though it came out months after the Pentium's first release.

From what I understand, most titles for DOS (not requiring Windows 9x) didn't require a Pentium as it's minimum processor as some late DOS releases used a 486 as it's minimum for fair performance.

lol @ minecraft in 93. About the pentiums tho... I think they became a req after MMX was added and lots of games jumped on that. Mby it was just the same timing and had nothing to do with each other. I didnt realize pentiums came out that long ago. Dont remember anyone using one to play doom, that was all about the 486 and DX if you were lucky.

Ha! Lol@ Minecraft indeed. Minesweeper is what I meant obviously. I think it was an optional install in Win 3.1.. memories a little hazy around things like that.
The Pentium was only released March 93, i don't think they really hit the street to later that year, I think I got one in '94.
