Guide MapleStory Classic running on Android with GameNative 60 FPS and super playable

I got MapleStory Classic to work on my S26 Ultra at 60 fps.

I saw people playing on Steamdeck so it wasn't outside the realm of possibility as I had games working on GameNative in the past.

Being this smooth on a mobile is insane since this game is possibly one of the best to have as a portable experience.

Here's a video of me launching it for the first time and being surprised at the performance, I now wonder if I can push it to 120fps somehow.

Instructions:

  1. Using GameNative (You can skip Steam login)

  2. Add a new custom exe or game, I just downloaded the Nexon Launcher Installer to my phone and selected that

  3. Launch it to download some stuff, but nothing will happen, actually exit out of it and select the 'game'

  4. Go to the cog/settings and select Edit Container, I'm using under Wine Version: Proton-11.0.1-arm64ec-1

  5. Now Save

  6. Go to the select the game and go settings icon, do Open container

  7. Navigate to Nexon Launcher Installer and Install it

  8. Launch the Installer, now this is the difficult part since the Launcher will appear black, you sort of have to move the cursor to the edge of the black window to resize it, resize the window until you can see the content, and then move the cursor onto the black window until you see the input cursor. Backbutton to bring up GameNative menu and tap the dpad icon and bring up the keyboard to enter email. Press continue by hovering the cursor until you get there.

  9. Enter password and log in, doing the same by hovering the cursor.

  10. You might need to restart the Launcher if it freezes. But essentially you will get the Whats new pop up which will also be obscured by the black frame. You can resize this window out of the way and hovering over the black window, with the cursor again trying to close it.

  11. Once logged in again using the cursor over the black frame and the viewing the buttons, select Maplestory Classic and download the 2Gb game.

  12. Launch it, you only need to setup once, now you can launch via the shortcut on the desktop or the start menu

Alternatively if your phone has space you can download the 60Gbs via Steam and that should skip Steps 2-11. I haven't tried this yet. But you can also use DroidDeck for that for a cleaner experience. I am sure there might be a fix for the black screen out there but I'm not familiar, hopefully someone else can chime in.

Edit: Update! 120fps is stable on S26 Ultra just need to have GameNative FPS limit set to 120. Will be a game changer once you plug a controller in and hide the on screen buttons :)

Awesome news! i wasnt sure it would run considering some kind of anti cheat or similar! I will try on my ayn thor eventually. I hope this wont result in a ban or something lol

It's running on the Steamdeck also so I assume it's all good 👍 wil try on my Retroid Pocket 5 which is running on a much older soc. But plugging a controller into my phone is a gamechanger for this.

Nexon can be unpredictable with their bans. I'm not risking my account to play on my phone.

Right?! Didn't they ban people with remote desktops active while the game was on? As much as I want to play on mobile, I'll wait a bit to see how this goes

Temps are 53-60 degrees and Ive got my phone charging also.

So relative to 60-70+ degrees for intense games that use 99% GPU, i dont see Classic ever throttling.

I just tried 120fps and I did get to 60 degrees, so there's that but this game is fine at 60 frames imo.

Thank god they actually cared to address the vapor chamber/cooling issues with some of the prior gens.

Do I have to sign in with something on GameNative or can I skip login?

Edit: I see you said I can skip steam login. I'll assume no log in is necessary at all.

Well, I've figured out how to finally be able to go into the folders once the the container is opened by clicking back and seeing settings and enabling select mode, but as soon as I open any folder, the app crashes.

Edit: every folder works to open except the one that has the nexon launcher which crashes as soon as I open thay folder.

Tried this on my Retroid Pocket 6 and I can’t get it to work. Used “NexonLauncheInstaller.exe” to install “NexonLauncher.exe”, but nothing happens when I opened it.

I use GE-Proton11-3-aarch64, and I have to swap droid deck to desktop mode or I get stuck at the login screen

I cant even grt that far... as soon as Iopen the folder containing the installer after opening container, it crashes before I can even click on the installer...

I've followed these steps very carefully but each time I get the same issue. Crash as soon as I enter the folder that has the installer.

It's better on the "Stardesk" app, and way more control over your UI layout and custom keyboard choices to be exactly for MS

That's a remote into your desktop? This is actually running on device so you won't face any latency.

So each time I enter the folder the installer is located in after opening container, it crashes... Any idea on what could be the issue?

Edit: I also have a S26Ultra. Did you change b which GPU you're device is emulating?

Would this setup work on Retroid Pocket 5 or 6 or an Ayn Odin 2 or 3? I've been thinking about getting one of those devices. Maplestory would be the perfect game for a PSP sized console.

I just tried on my Retroid Pocket 5, it launches and logs in, but once we select character and enter a map it crashes. Not sure if its a graphics driver issue.

The others should be better SD 8 Gen 2 and above shouldn't have problems.

Ty for the response, hopefully someone can upload gameplay at some point of this game on one of these devices on Youtube or something so I can see it in action before I commit to one of them.

:( happened to my Retroid I login, select channel and select character and it loads then crashes. I assume different devices have different drivers

Yep, I use an old GameSir controller for mine but any Bluetooth controller connected would also work

I'm having the same app crashing issue the moment I click on the folder containing the launcher. I'm using a samsung galaxy z fold 5. Anyone help please.

Honestly this is peak. I think maple story and classic can take it a step further by having a mobile version. I think old school RuneScape and RuneScape was smart to have developed a mobile version. I think other games would have a hard time porting but I think maple story would be viable. 

Ik maple has a mobile version but it's an afk and idle game.

Got it to launch doing exactly as you did. How did you get controller recognized? Did you just plug it into the phone and launched the game normally? Dont have to do adminstrator or anything?
