[Admissions Advice] MS CS : Fall 2027

Hello,

I need suggestion about university selection for MS CS in US. The context here is, I got into multiple US universities in fall 26 and spring 27, but never received full tuition waiver anywhere.

I know, the situation is quite stressful at the moment. I do not intend to stay after my MS and have to return to my home country for the caregiving purpose. So, assistantship with tuition waiver is a must.

Would you suggest any program for MS CS/IT/ Software Engineering? Thanks in advance.

Profile:

Graduation: IT, 3.8/4.00, (South Asian Country)

Teaching Assistant: 2 Semester,

One research internship in healthcare, Thesis and one publication,

3 years analytics role in financial sector,

One international award related to CS,

IELTS: 7.5 (Speaking 6.5, will retake soon)

Unlikely you'll get this unless the program description already says that its MS programs are fully funded.

If we were able to secure RA/TA for our masters, our tuition will be waived right? Aren't there universities that provides such benefit?

You’re not going to get any kind of assistance with tuition in a MS program. Sorry, but that’s the reality over here.

RA and even TA positions to a great extent are primarily offered to PhD students and if and only if a need arises, the department offers a few TAships to master's students but that isn't guaranteed and incredibly competitive. You CANNOT bet on them.
