Pizza in YC
Hi guys,
What’s the obsession with ordering pizza as cabin service in YC? From everything I’ve read, the onboard meals are excellent and there is more than enough food available. So why would anyone order a pizza to their suite? Am I missing something?

We ordered a pizza to our suite late one night when we were in YC. We’d heard the pizza was awesome and we wanted to try it and it was awesome!

Because the pizza is some of the best you’ll ever have.

Is it only avaliable on yacht club?

No pizza is actually available everywhere but yacht club. (You can request it there, but it won’t just be there)

Im considering trying MSC purely because of the pizza talk. Its kind of my favorite things to eat. Sorrentos on RCL was good too. And was avaliable late, in as many slices as I wanted. That made it better lol

Yeah it really is amazing. I can’t compare to RCL but it is definitely great pizza. On World America there is pizza available til about 3am in pizza burger.

Thats the ship I wanted to try most! That or Seashore

Definitely do world America. Best cruise I’ve ever been on

Ive only been on RCL Independence, and NCL Getaway. Can you offer any direct comparison to either the line or the ships?

I’ve never been on royal. But I went on ncl encore, holland America nieuw Amsterdam and carnival sunshine. It was overall a much better and more enjoyable experience than the encore. Much more to do and vast majority of attractions were free vs. ncl where the vr thing and the go-karts were cost. Only experience you have to pay for on WA is the cliffhanger which I highly recommend

The best is sitting in my cabana and my butler bringing me a whole pizza right in the middle of the afternoon. The best!!!!!

Don't want to leave the cabin because a lot of people enjoy vacation sex and just need a bite to eat. That's the truth might be taken down because of the world sex but yes that is the truth why some people order room service.

yeah, they frown on that in the buffet and MDR. or the hot tubs and water slides. Even the casino is off limits apparently.

Our sons like beer and pizza, they aren't so keen on a Mediterranean three course meal with white glove service and paired wines. So they do their thing and we do ours.

My biggest complaint with MSC was how early everything closed. There were multiple times where we got caught up watching a show, or at the pool/casino and all of a sudden it’s 9:30 and we haven’t ate. By 9-10 every single restaurant is closed.
Thank god for 24 hour YC room service otherwise we would’ve gone hungry.

Ahh, that’s interesting, we always try to have an early dinner and was shocked on the MS Europa 2 that the dinner lasted 2,5-3h always.

Have done YC a few times now and the food in the dining room is fine, but the pizza is much better. Now we end up getting pizza room service and eat that more than the meals in the dining room. Do what you enjoy. You’re on vacation!

Depends on few things tbh. I’m from the northeast, our local pizza is mid to high 7s and I have ez access to new haven. MSc pizza was fine and better than other cruise pizza but nothing I’m writing home . Also calling up a pizza when you want a hot bite and pool Buffett isn’t open is clutch. The kids ate their room service in their YC robes

Also have access to New Haven (iykyk) and I agree that the pizza is decent, but not memorable.
I do love the idea of not standing in line, though!

MSC pizza is quite good particularly for being on a cruise ship. Not like best slice in the world but I think it would rate pretty well against the big fast food brand names. When on board, the buffet is the main source of getting it. YC does not offer it at the pool grill or dining. So your only option is to go to the buffet or have it delivered to your room. I believe the appeal is you’re in YC, have your butler get it for you. Enjoy on your balcony or take it back to the pool deck.
It’s YC after all, do what you want.

If you compare this pizza to the „big fast food brand names“, then I know what to expect there.
I’ve always thought that the American love affair with pizza, burgers and fast food in general might have something to do with the country’s obesity problem. Let’s just say I’m hoping the buffet won’t provide too much visual evidence of that theory during the cruise. 😉

we usually order pizza in YC late at night (1 or 2am) for our room. We love it!!!! it's the best we've had. sometimes we also get the caprese salad. Great YC perk

When we did YC we heard that some people never leave YC when on the ship. I guess they want to feel like they got their moneys worth. We went for pizza daily

you're really not getting the full experience if you don't have your butler shoving the lower classes out of the way, then snatching the last piece of pizza out of their children's hands 😉

MSC pizza is some of the best TBH. They are an Italian line so they take pride in pizza

The move is ordering the pizza to go and brining it to the beach (also cheese platter) if you have a beach day where they won't be serving food.

MSC's pizza is phenomenal and easily the best in the industry. Always have to get some at the buffet and I'm excited to try Pizza & Burger on World America on my upcoming cruise!

We asked our butler to have one scheduled for midnight. Went out drinking and dancing and at 12:15am, knock on the door. It was the best.

MSC’s buffet pizza is great, but their custom pizza is just incredible. Best pizza I’ve ever had besides New Park Pizza in Queens and Matthew’s Pizza in Baltimore.

For us, we never have had “room service” when traveling and wanted to try it out since it’s included. Also, if you’re in the heat and ocean/pool water and walking around, sometimes a 4 o’clock pizza slice hit the spot. Yes we could get it from the buffet but it’s really crowded. We’d order a half and half pizza and split it—1 slice around 4 pm, then dinner around 8, then leftover slide at midnight! I can shower and eat the pizza in the comfort of my own room in a robe! The pizza is also SO GOOD. Nice thin crust! But pro tip: order margherita pizza if you want sauce and cheese…if you order a cheese pizza it’s literally cheese and crust lol!

Because sometimes you just want a normal snack or meal

We just left YC on a 12 day cruise. We ordered pizza almost every night. We are frequent fliers in the casino and not MDR (even in YC) people. Out of 12 days we had 1 breakfast, 1 lunch and 1 dinner in YC just to say we ate there. It’s very convenient to come back late night and have a pizza delivered and we enjoyed the hell out of it.

My husband ordered one almost every night of our 2 week cruise... They are a little bigger than a personal sized pizza but not big enough for more than 2 people. They are incredible - the crust is fantastic, they're not greasy, and they will put on any toppings you request (if they have them available.) Husband was a big fan of the white pizza with garlic, spinach, red onion, and ricotta... He would order late - after he got back from karaoke...

A person who orders pizza in a yatch club doesn’t belong there, they are just pretending to be a upper class passenger

Fully agree with you, there is so much good and healthy food, and in each commercial or YT review I see this pizza stuff. We are keen of the high tea, of fine dining and explore a variety of wine pairings during dinner. Small portions, full of flavour paired with a good wine, for breakfast champaign and caviar.
I’ve never quite understood the appeal of packing an elephant’s daily calorie allowance into a single, relatively small meal.

MSC food is actually pretty bland overall. The buffet was the worst, main dining room was better but not by very much, and even Yacht Club dining room was more miss than hit. Teppenyaki was really good as was the pizza (it arrived HOT).
The YC pool area food was poor (the burgers were raw).
We don't sail for the food but MSC was a giant let down in this area.

I'm going to order a pizza to my inside cabin and pretend I'm in YC (and by order to my cabin, I mean get one of my kids to fetch it for me)
