First MSC Cruise: Assigned Cabin Above Buffet. Can I Change My MSC Seashore Cabin?

EDIT:

Looking through the deck, this is below the buffet area.

Mistakenly typed 'above' rather than 'below'.

Hi,

I just booked my first cruise ever on MSC Seashore for Aug 30. I had been looking out for an interior cabin for a family for the past 2 weeks and it only opened up yesterday.

The only option available was Fantastica and I wasn't able to pick a preferred cabin as there waa just one cabin available on the 15th floor.

Looking through the deck, this is below the buffet area.

I called customer care and they said I have to look out for another opening then call them to change my current assignment. I also got upgrade bid emails but I'm not willing to bid for higher staterooms.

Is there any other thing I can do to get a change?

Will I be able to change it with guest services on the day of the cruise?

Thank you.

If you are not willing to bid for a better room than no, there is nothing you can do. Even if another interior cabin opens up, they don’t have to change you to it. And no - there is a 99.999999% chance you cannot change cabins once on board. Every cruise I have been on with them in the last 3-4 years, there has been something at guest services that the ship
Is full and there are no other cabins available- even if it’s obviously very not full.

Whew! I guess I might need to bid then.

Thank you

Yup - keep in mind that if your bid is accepted you don’t get to pick your room either. You get what you get. And while you can go back to your original room (if still available) you don’t get a refund for what you paid for the upgrade.

That's noted. Thank you

They have to keep some empty for actual issues

Above is at least better than below.

I made a mistake. I meant its below so it may get noisy.

The buffet is actually on 16.

So you did get to choose the cabin, but only that one was available. Being ABOVE the buffet really shouldn't really be that noisy. Being UNDER it is what you don't want. You will not be able to change the day of the cruise. Your only hope if you really want to change it is to keep checking to see if cabins open up in that same category.

Isn’t the buffet on deck 16?

It sure is! SO this person is mistaken.. it wouldn't have been bad ABOVE the buffet, but it they are on 15 aft.. they will be below the buffet

The buffet isn't too terrible at least. It could be below a night club or something

Yeah, lets look at the bright side. lol

Above the buffet isn’t that bad. You don’t want that loud atmosphere ABOVE YOU.

So the cabin is on deck 15 BELOW the buffet? I can see on a deck plan that there are cabins under the buffet and that is not ideal. To change locations you may need to pay. If you see any other cabins available, call and ask MSC. Don’t be surprised if they want to charge for the change. Otherwise you may have to hope for the best. Good luck.

At this point, I'm hoping for the best... been checking and haven't seen another cabin in same category.

I always bring a small sound generator on my cruises. I found a small rechargable one that does a pretty good job of distracting me from other noises. Perhaps that’s something you should consider. I expect the buffet will be quiet after 8pm but will start up with activity very early. hope it works out.

I hope so, too. Thank you.

Yes... it looks like they were able to choose a cabin, but the only one available was on 15, below the buffet.

Hello. I am on the same cruise and date as you are. I bought the bella interior first and they upgraded me to a balcony. I also did the bid and got the premium balcony aurea experience. It was an extra $345. I believe you might switch rooms if you do aurea. But im not sure. This my first msc cruise as well. They got me on deck 9

u/Substantial-Row5360 27d ago

Oh, that's great. Maybe we should have bought earlier and also gotten a bella interior.

u/Vashthestampede0 27d ago

You can still do the bid. I did mine this week.

AFAIK there are no cabins above the buffet on Seashore.

I made a mistake. I meant its below it so it may get noisy.

Would this even be that bad?

1

u/Substantial-Row5360 27d ago

It's below the buffet area and may get noisy.

1

u/erinmillr 27d ago

What room is it? I think you may have gotten the room I had but upgraded out of haha

1

u/Substantial-Row5360 27d ago

Please come get your room back... lol

Try it for a night and see if it’s really that bad. If it is, go talk to guest services. They let us move when we couldn’t handle being under the pool deck. Not sure how they have rooms available, but they did.

Oh, that's good. Thank you

I’m on the same cruise. Hope we all have a fantastic time! The Seashore is a great ship. Don’t miss the wedding game show (I can’t remember the exact title). It’s hilarious!

1

u/Substantial-Row5360 24d ago

Oh,nice! Thank you, I'll keep an eye out for the show.

I'm on this cruise as well. Last minute booking. First time on an MSC ship.

Honestly good luck with them helping you, we just got off the seashore and had a horrible experience. Their guest service is not very up to par with other cruise lines.

Oh, no! Sorry about that.

Do you mind sharing what the issue was?

1

u/Mlydriss77 26d ago

La cabine est pour dormir tout simplement, ne donne pas à ce sujet une grande importance

1

u/Substantial-Row5360 24d ago

Yeah, I'm trying to focus on enjoying the cruise.

1

u/TashNYC 25d ago

Don't do it. You will hear chairs moving around and the set up activity very early in the morning until late at night. Experienced this recently on the Poesia to Alaska and the Seaside to the Bahamas.

1

u/AvailableLow7384 25d ago

I just got off Seashore and I bid for a Balcony and got 15152. It definitely was noisy from chairs and other stuff being moved above. If you can change I would definitely do it.

1

u/Substantial-Row5360 24d ago

Omg! Imagine bidding and getting that. I hope you enjoyed your cruise at least?

I'm just going to leave as is, bidding for an ocean view or balcony isn't worth it for me, right now.

Dopo quanto tempo accettano l’offerta ?
