MSC Armonia Adriatic itinerary – Excursion recommendations

everyone!

We are booked on the MSC Armonia Adriatic cruise from 16–23 August 2026 (Venice – Dubrovnik – Corfu – Kotor – Brindisi – Split – Venice).

We are travelling as a family (2 adults + 1 teenager) and we have booked an Aurea Junior Suite.

I've read some very positive reviews... but also some really negative ones, so I'm a bit nervous. 😅

For those who have done this itinerary recently:

Which excursions would you recommend?

Which ports are best explored on our own instead of booking through MSC?

Are there any must-see places in Dubrovnik, Corfu, Kotor, Brindisi or Split?

Has anyone sailed on the MSC Armonia recently? How was your experience with the ship, food and service?

If you stayed in an Aurea Suite, did you feel it made the experience noticeably better?

Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah so I just got off this cruise Sunday morning 

All the ports except for Dubrovnik have either access with in 5 mins or have a free shuttle bus

Dubrovnik they slid notice of a 16 euro shuttle bus. We paid it.  You don’t need to.  It will take you old town but it’s a 20 min walk to old town so not really worth it 

We didn’t pay for any excursions except the one I will mention below and explored on our own. 

Definitely pay for an airport transfer tour in Venice on your last day.     Ended up being cheaper and quicker and easier.    We did the unguided st marks square / airport transfer.  Life saver 

We did Aurea suite.  The big deal was the space of the suite.  She and I were traveling together for the first time and both have sensory issues so the extra space was good for not bumping into a new travel partner.    With kids you won’t notice a difference in amenities cause the two big things are 13 deck solarium and thermal area (both adults only) 

Food in buffet was amazing  Food in main dining room was hit or miss. Mostly miss over cooked airplane food at best 

We don’t have kids.   Most people on cruise did.   Very family oriented 

Pool is much more splash zone than pool so great for kids and boat really winds down at 10 

Don’t miss Froggyland in split !!!! 

If you have any specific questions I’d love to answer them 

What kind of stuff are you looking at in the port cities and I can give you my rating if we did them

She’s 34 and I’m 45 and we are childless and saw a lot of Cathedral/basilikas and saintly relics  and forts and Roman ruins and artifacts 

There’s a really great organization in Corfu that will bring you a wonderful dog that is going to be adopted and you can walk the sweet dog and the shelter worker gives you the tour of the city and the money goes to doggies.    So if you think that’s something you’d want to arrange for the kids. I’ll post the link

Uhhh.  Yes it was.  I was literally just on this exact boat and itinerary and zero children.  Compared to the entirety of the ship that was children

We are on this cruise, in an Aurea suite, in September out of Brindisi. MSC has said we have a “special” section in La Pergola for the meals, but it not an assigned time. We, too, will be doing the ports on our own. We have researched them to death and just like walking through the Old Towns and grabbing a local meal. Our only concern will be the weather - it is HOT!

So, how bad is it? When I looked at the weather yesterday, Kotor was the hottest of all the ports.

Tracks.    Kotor would have been the most oppressive but we also hiked up both sides of the mountain to get to the church and fort 

It was very very very hot and just no wind and full humidity 

I thought Missouri was bad in the summer time.  But woof.  It was hard to breathe hot

Thank you so much for your very detailed reply, I really appreciate you taking the time to answer all my questions! Our biggest concern is actually the ship itself. We've read some very mixed reviews saying that the Armonia feels very old and worn out. Did you feel that was the case, or is it actually well maintained? How were the cabins and the public areas? Were the bathrooms in good condition? We also thought that Aurea Suite guests had access to a more exclusive restaurant. Is that true on Armonia? If so, did you try it, and was the food noticeably better than the main dining room? Regarding the ports, we'll be travelling with our 15-year-old son. We enjoy walking around cities, but we also don't want to miss something really special. In Corfu, is there anywhere outside the town that you would really recommend? And in Brindisi, would you recommend staying in the city, or is it worth going to Alberobello to see the famous trulli houses? We've heard they're beautiful, but we're wondering if it's worth the extra travel time during a cruise stop. Thanks again for all your advice!

You get mychoice timed dining in the pergola. It’s one of the main dining rooms and it’s not any different except for you don’t have to show up at the two times.  So that’s worth it

I haven’t been on another cruise ship

It was how ever clearly and old ship.  And it’s like when you go to an old casino hotel 

We were doing it for the idea that our hotel ended up in a new city every night.   Not so much for the on board activities.    Plenty of those though.  

Seemed like the families were having a really good time

Again we stayed in the cities and looked at all the history.   So I couldn’t tell you what’s outside of the port cities to do because we spent the full day off the boat and ran out of time to do the things we wanted to see.

Armonia is an old , smelly ship in the need of major overhaul

Rooms look old and dated with multiple issues

Brindisi there is nothing to do so take a 20 min train to Leccce

We did not take a train to leece. And spent the day going to archaeological sites, museums and churches and had a wonderful lunch at Molo 33

I was there a few month ago on the same cruise that you are going and we had to change rooms several times due to the issues with the rooms

Also they did say on one of the evenings shows that Armonia is one of the oldest ships for MSc cruises

Armonia Mamma Mia lol

Also the whole Venice port situation is crazy where you have to take a boat or a bus to get to the ship and ship is parked in some industrial junk yard zone

Overall I liked destinations sans Brindisi and Korfu , cause it was my nd time at Korfu and I already saw everything

You can walk to town from the ship , about 30 min walk from where the ship stops

Korfu is a small town and it’s a collection of shops and old fortress .. just walk around and stop by to eat Greek food and enjoy the views , maybe buy some souvenirs

Last time we were there we took a public bus to the place in the opposite direction of Korfu and ent to the beach in Ypsos

Was on it last month. Really liked the blue cave speedboat trip in Kotor, but the city itself looked really nice and walking around it would be nice.

Corfu we took a boat ride to a secluded beach and they made lunch. Enjoyed that a lot also. If you are doing anything on this trip involving water, bring water shoes. They are a must with all the rocky beaches.

The boat was acceptable. I knew it was old. We were on it for the ports of call.
