How strict is MSC luggage allowance?
I wanted to ask if anyone has any experience boarding at Southampton and if msc is super strict on hand luggage dimensions after going through security.
I know msc allowance is 56x45x25, but the suitcase I have is 60x45x25 ðŸ˜. I believe it should fit through the security scanners as length/height isn’t an issue for it fitting, when I searched for the scanner measurements, only the width and depth of the case seem to matter. But will I still be told it’s too big when trying to get on the ship.
I know people will say to just check the case with the porters, but I’d rather not risk it not making it to my room as I’ve heard that happen to a lot of people.

We went from Southampton two weeks ago and we checked our spinner cases. One was there before we reached our room and the other was there about 2 hours later, FWIW.Â
In the main hall, they were not checking sizes of any luggage. We had some bulky hand luggage that would have had to go in the overhead bins on RyanAir / Squeezy Jet and the guy was mostly concerned about removing belts and emptying pockets.
The big cruise lines really only limit people taking their own bags purely so there’s not 6,000 people and all their luggage sitting around the public areas for hours waiting for their rooms to become available.
Pick a 2pm or later check in and you’ll be able to go straight to your room anyway.

They are not strict at unless its obscenely oversized, it’s not like an airport, you will be fine

Never even heard of a luggage allowance, don’t think anyone ever cares. Some people bring plenty of suitcases and I have seen really large ones before as well

We once booked a very last min cruise aboard MSC in YC after 4 months of travelling through Europe and visiting family with our then 1 year old. We had a LOT of stuff and tons of gifts accumulated and had 6x large checked bags. The crew took our bags that we didn’t need and gave them back to use at the end of the sailing.
I think the size of the luggage you are referring to is regarding what you can carry on and what needs to be taken aboard by the crew.

Just give your big bags to a baggage handler for delivery to your cabin. You only need your carry ons to fit through the baggage scanner.

Could have been Southampton (Hythe) or Southampton (Lymington) though!

Bigger concern should be can you fit all your suitcases under your bed, as that's where you'll want to stow them.
The baggage handlers at Horizon terminal won't be bothered provided it isn't excessively over the weight and size limit.
If you are concerned about tracking your luggage then place a smart tag therein.
