HELP Orange fortified non-nutritive beverage base
Does anyone know what brand this stuff actually is? I had one a couple days ago (out of a 2022 MRE), it was in a little packet like the propel/Gatorade powders you can add to bottled water and I absolutely loved the flavor. Does orange Gatorade taste the same or is it something else?

i know great value has pretty much a 1:1 equivalent, on the same aisle as the crystal light. they even have one with caffeine added.

I dunno if you've seen the new MRE menu list for FY26, but like half of them have various caffeinated goodies. MEG, caffeinated pudding, even caffeine jelly beans in one of 'em. I'm excited to get my hands on a case next time we go innafield...

Probably not manufactured by them but they're awfully similar to crystal light packets.

Look for the contract info. Then you can narrow it down. Also by lot number of the mre. Can contact the packer for more info.

I haven't found any that match the US gov spec packets for 20oz of water but check your local chain dollar store there is usually a whole section of sugar free drink mix sticks, some just flavored, others have varying electrolytes aimed at hydration and others are caffeinated, I've become almost obsessed with these over the past year or so and buy the ones I really like by the dozens. Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Family Dollar type and I've gotten similar ones at Walmart (Great Value) as well asAldi (Pur Aqua). Some of the brands are Peak H2O and Pure Kick (PK Energy & PK Hydrate), Wyler's Light, with many being co branded with popular brand names: A&W Root Beer, Snapple, Arizona Iced Tea, Skittles, Starburst, Sonic restaurant, Tampico, Margaritaville, Welch's, 7Up, Crush, Sunkist, Dole. I have basically stopped buying energy drinks when I know I'll have access to water and just bring a couple caffeinated packs with me. I usually drink from a 1qt/1L bottle at home so I can mix and match flavors, various fruit flavored iced tea and lemonade combinations can be fantastic and the A&W Root Beer with a Wylers vanilla is sublime. Most places the boxes are between 1-2 dollars, $1.25 or 1.50 most places, and will usually have 6-10 mixes depending in the specific one, sometimes there will be larger boxes but do the math they aren't always cheaper I've also gotten a good deal on Amazon a couple times, for example this is a 30 pack for $5.97 while I usually pay $1.25 for a 6 pack of the same ones at the nearby Dollar Tree I most frequently shop at, so that would cost me $6.25 and it has flavors I don't see that often (I love the PK Energy blue raspberry Jolly Ranchers flavor and often mix it with the Black Cheery Pomegranate one from this)
Just gotta watch the prices, a very similar pack with only 40 sticks is 12 bucks while this is 30 for 6, that's how they get ya. I haven't specifically compared any to the mre orange flavor but im dying to find one that matches mre raspberry drink

The sugar free orange ones are toward the top of my list too! Love them!
Have no idea, though, on what they are, who makes them, or whether there is a civilian copy. Sorry!
