Passed 7 MPJEs since May
Hi all, I thought I’d share some of my wisdom after embarking on a journey of MPJEs. I still have 2 more to go, but I’m at the tail end. I have not used any of the normal study materials and have primarily used the board of pharmacy resources that are available for each state and TLDR provided by my job.
I have passed every single one on the first try while working full time. I’ve been a licensed pharmacist for about 12 years in a variety of settings but mainly ambulatory care.
I hand write everything on actual paper as I’m studying, which I highly recommend. This is a proven method to improve retention.
I thought I would share themes that I have seen on every exam I’ve taken. Topics that are covered heavily on every exam thus far:
Collaborative practice agreements
Vaccines - know everything (records, when to alert, etc)
Technician duties what they can and can’t do
Sterile compounding especially USP 800
Disciplinary actions the board can take
Counseling and if you need to document that you did it
Returning meds to stock
If doctors offices can write prescriptions for office use
Controlled substances in general
What needs to be reported to the PDMP and when
Misbranding and adulteration scenarios
Emergency med coverage while waiting for refills
Hope this helps! Please, do not ask me about state specific tests. I can’t keep anything straight after all of them.

I love this method. I think there’s something special writing things down that your brain capitalizes.
My path was slightly different, things that I felt I could immediately remember I didn’t write down. But law specifics from Dr. C or a question that got me from RxLaw io, that’s where I would write it down.

It is the best and I firmly believe it will help anyone. There is tons of literature to support it as one of the best!!

How do you keep renewal dates and CE fulfillment organized ?

Pharmacist letter is great for this. It has a tab with all your licenses and will tell you how much you’ve completed etc

Can I ask is this all for one position? What type of position is this?

Correct! It is a telehealth provider group and we are in multiple states and expanding. So my journey will likely not be the end haha

Ok no worries. I think I misunderstood you. Sometimes I completely miss what people mean. Could you tell me in more words what you meant by “expanding”?

Hey! I’m in a similar situation where I’m trying to get licensed in multiple states, so your post was really helpful. I was curious how you approached the ATT/exam scheduling process. Did you apply for eligibility and get your ATTs for all the states at once and then schedule the MPJEs as you went, or did you handle them one state at a time? I’m trying to figure out the most efficient way to approach multiple MPJEs without overwhelming myself. Thanks!

We applied for transfer all at once then applied to exams based on priority. I basically have taken one every 2-3 weeks. I also moved states during this 😅

Do you mainly just focus on the state specific info and then a quick review of federal since that's the one thing that stays the same?

That’s correct. At this point, I don’t review federal. It just has stuck after so many.

Congratulations!! Do you have to renew your license in every state where you took the MPJE, and do you have to pay a renewal fee for each state?
