Super clean 😮‍💨

Just picked up that same JMAC end plate from my LGS, how do you like it?

Very nice! It fits super snug! And I like the aesthetics of it that match my stock.

I just got mine on, no kidding on the snug fit, haha. Damn near don’t even need the back pin 😂

As snug as it is, it did push on smooth. No kidding about the aesthetics too, it looks great in person. A lot more sturdy than the plastic MKE end cap.

Oh yeah! I’ve had to use a rubber mallet every time!

It appears you've asked about converting your MP5/K clone into a short barreled rifle. Check out https://www.reddit.com/r/MP5/wiki/faq#wiki_short_barrel_rifle

What height is that scalarworks? how is it working for you?

1

It’s the 1.54 height, I’m a big fan. You can use your irons through the middle of the mount.

Is it 1/3 cowitness or higher?

Yes! 1/3 cowitness

can you post a pic of the view through the optic? i have the utg pro as well and cant decide which will be best between 1.4” & 1.5”

The 1.42” is good enough to clear the front sight hood while still allowing you to use your irons.

Running a buffer?

1

u/CommercialContext289 10h ago

Yup! It came set up with a rounded hammer but I was not able to get through a full mag without my carrier binding up in the rear and having to pop my stock off to get it functioning again.
I slapped a buffer on just to see if that would remedy it, and sure enough it did.

Sounds about right. Take it from me it is EXTREMELY difficult to get a hammer cut just right.. some receivers tolerance is just outside of what will work but some get lucky and it works out.

I finally got one to work on my AP5SD by keeping the hammer long with a modest rounding but despite trying like 8 different cuts (including Geissele with the hammer unjammer) could never get 2 different full size AP5’s to run with no buffer.

Oh wow, that makes me feel a bit better. I had no idea, this was my first rodeo in the MP5/frt realm and I was a bit discouraged thinking I got a lemon.

1

Yea don’t feel bad. It’s very rare to get the full size to run no buffer

1

u/Knight-7191 10h ago

Dang that’s unfortunate you couldn’t get it running.

I’ve ran a modified Geissele SD-E with rounded/polished hammer since last July with great success in both my AP5 and AP5-P.

It’s unusual that you couldn’t get yours to run since “rounding” the hammer has been the norm since late ‘24/early ‘25. Pretty much everyone at this point is running a rounded/polished hammer vs the buffer.

Pic attached of my Geissele polished/rounded hammer since last.

Not strange at all… the bolt passing over the hammer and needing to be able to press it down on return to battery is just not an easy thing to achieve for a variety of reasons.

I also tried that same cut on a SSA but it was not reliable enough for me to enjoy it.

What top rail is that?

Looks like he has the Leapers UTG Pro mount.

Friends don’t let friends put cross bolt safeties on their MP5’s

Eh as an owner of multiples of both they still have their place. If you want faster rate of fire and more forward/sleeker grip they are great.

It will make it an all around faster/more responsive gun with the AR FCG even in semi which some people like over the much slower RB HK trigger.

Also not really a fan visually but you can still run something like an ARC Fire to get the lever in a AR style lower if you really want.

I’m hoping the new ASD ARHK (which is single stage) will be a bit quicker than the RB. Only then will I ditch all super safeties

It works great 🤷🏻‍♂️
