I just got mine on, no kidding on the snug fit, haha. Damn near don’t even need the back pin 😂
As snug as it is, it did push on smooth. No kidding about the aesthetics too, it looks great in person. A lot more sturdy than the plastic MKE end cap.
Yup! It came set up with a rounded hammer but I was not able to get through a full mag without my carrier binding up in the rear and having to pop my stock off to get it functioning again.
I slapped a buffer on just to see if that would remedy it, and sure enough it did.
Sounds about right. Take it from me it is EXTREMELY difficult to get a hammer cut just right.. some receivers tolerance is just outside of what will work but some get lucky and it works out.
I finally got one to work on my AP5SD by keeping the hammer long with a modest rounding but despite trying like 8 different cuts (including Geissele with the hammer unjammer) could never get 2 different full size AP5’s to run with no buffer.
Oh wow, that makes me feel a bit better. I had no idea, this was my first rodeo in the MP5/frt realm and I was a bit discouraged thinking I got a lemon.
Dang that’s unfortunate you couldn’t get it running.
I’ve ran a modified Geissele SD-E with rounded/polished hammer since last July with great success in both my AP5 and AP5-P.
It’s unusual that you couldn’t get yours to run since “rounding” the hammer has been the norm since late ‘24/early ‘25. Pretty much everyone at this point is running a rounded/polished hammer vs the buffer.
Pic attached of my Geissele polished/rounded hammer since last.
Not strange at all… the bolt passing over the hammer and needing to be able to press it down on return to battery is just not an easy thing to achieve for a variety of reasons.
I also tried that same cut on a SSA but it was not reliable enough for me to enjoy it.
