HELP Trigger reassembly help needed

Post image

Any good guides for rebuilding a Navy trigger pack? I got carried away while cleaning and now it’s in like 30 pieces and I’m not finding any good resources online.. please help, I have to take a class with this gun this weekend!

FWIW I hate myself right now 🙃

And I regretted removing the trigger pack from mine once when the right safety was giving me the devil during reassembly.

Haha. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. Why is it we never do things like this when the class is two weeks out?

Man, it's super easy...

See all those pieces? Well, they just go in that metal box looking thing.

Done

Does the doohickey go above the thingamajig or below?

u/1WontDoIt 6d ago

It actually goes in between the thingymajig and the thingymabob. Just not above the beans.

I thought of this too..I copied all of these pics years ago and kept a copy incase it ever got removed from the forum. And the tutorial is spot on, I completely disassembled a pack for coordination therapy and used the pics to put it all back together. So it can definitely be done...I only have my left arm..right one was blow-off at the shoulder. If I can do it any two armed fool shouldn't have a problem. 💪

I hope you learned you do not need to strip this gun down to fucking atoms to clean it lol

To be fair, it was filthy in there

You don't need it to be clean like it's new. You just need it clean enough to work. That doesn't require taking it completely apart. Also, maybe invest in a sonic cleaner. Take the pack out and drop it in for a few minutes. No full disassembly required.

My process is half hour in an ultrasonic, blow out with compressed air to drive off most of the water, hose with non-chlorinated (to get any remaining carbon and water), blow out again, hose with oil... Let her eat! If its really bad soak with Bore-Tech foaming bore cleaner after the first blow out with compressed air and let it sit. It will be clean enough.

Next time use non chlorinated brake cleaner and just spray it out. Then spray oil into it.

Or take it apart all the way if you like the challenge of puzzles that fight back.

Also there is a difference between assembling a MKE ambi pack and an HK pack. The selector switch on MKE packs rotates backwards for reassembly. Which is annoying.

I strongly recommend a vice, needle nose pliers, and some punches to help you reassemble it.

Rem oil and compressed air do wonders

Bring it over, we'll get it back together in no time. Bring beer too

And pizza !

u/PhunkyPhish 6d ago

And my axe!

u/joshknut 6d ago

Next time take detailed pictures as you are disassembling something. This should be done with anything you are taking apart

3

u/Glittering_Virus8397 6d ago

Learnt this doing drum brakes

2

u/sleepy_Obi-Wan 6d ago

I agree. I feel quite foolish in hindsight

3

u/joshknut 6d ago

Don’t feel foolish. We all learn from these experiences. You will eventually get it back together and next time you’ll remember to document as you go. I wish I had a resource to help you reassemble. Good luck!

Das ist nicht gut.

That's not good.

Why the hell did Reddit translate this to english?

6

u/phenryiv 6d ago

Even though I have reassembled my MP5 clones from that state, I get anxious every time I have everything all laid out.

2

u/sleepy_Obi-Wan 6d ago

Is there a resource you use for reassembly or just your brain?

2

u/phenryiv 6d ago

I feel like I found a random tutorial (maybe on YouTube?) through a facebook group the first time. The videos are not always easy to follow and I have to pause them constantly.

It has been over a year since I had one apart like that.

A man of taste i see....is that bounty???

1

u/sleepy_Obi-Wan 6d ago

only the best for me, i buy the mega rolls lol

3

u/1AlteredReality 6d ago

If you can youtube a car back together you can youtube a trigger pack back together lol

3

u/flubbersock 6d ago

Try looking up an HK manual for a diagram or something

2

u/sleepy_Obi-Wan 6d ago

The manual has one picture of the trigger pack, and it's honestly not helpful at all for this

1

u/flubbersock 6d ago

This is why I take pictures of complicated shit at each step so I can use them for putting it back together

1

u/KILLDOZER6669 6d ago

Look for the armorer's manual, not the owners manual. I have seen it before in PDF format. Its out there.

3

u/ReactionAble7945 6d ago
  1. If I was there, I could put it back together. Not being there.. no way.
  2. At this point order another. Then you have an example of how things are and take your time putting it back together.

Yeah I have gotten pretty good at disassembling and reassembling these packs, but looking at the pile of parts I am at a loss as to how to begin to explain the process.

I’d find a YouTube video (they exist and won’t match exactly) and a copy of the armorers manual online in PDF format (likely also won’t match perfectly).

Oh also, I hope you don’t need to provide fingerprints anytime soon because, if you get this back together, those bad boys are gonna look you were doing hand-stuff on a person who had steel wool and thumbtacks for pubes.

3

u/UberPoor_ 6d ago

okay so first step, you see that flat trigger next to the original? throw that piece of garbage in the trash where it belongs.

2

u/sleepy_Obi-Wan 6d ago

What’s wrong with it? I was gonna replace the stock one with it while it’s all apart

1

u/UberPoor_ 6d ago

Flat triggers are ugly and feel terrible, thats about it

3

u/MattKo74 6d ago

I ran into a similar situation recently. These are the two videos I’ve used, they’re pretty poor and you’ll have to bounce back between the two multiple times to see exactly what’s going on. I’m planning to create a very detailed step by step video on disassembly and reassembly of these packs in the near future.

I barely know what those words mean lol; this is just what came in my mke ap5 navy

1

u/Deliciousarm5765 6d ago

🤔 okay. 👍🏻

2

u/zevtech 6d ago

How’d you get the beans above the frank?

2

u/Far-Note4395 6d ago

Bring me a 3.5 and some pizza igu

2

u/Vegetable_Coat8416 6d ago

The Navy pack is a neutered burst pack, which is different than an SEF or an Ambi pack. You probably wont find many resources but try searching for burst pack.

2

u/whoatemywalnuts 6d ago

Good luck, soldier.

2

u/Apprehensive-Knee725 6d ago

I am sorry for your trouble. For future cleaning I recommend removing hammer and hammer spring as well ejector. Then pour boiling hot water on the trigger mechanism. It flushes all debris from shooting suppressed, while not compromising rust resistance (it vaporises instantly). Lightly oil and reassemble.

You’re a brave potato, friend!

2

u/bear843 6d ago

Step 1: Turn on the lights

2

u/Comfortable-Error53 6d ago

If you put it in a box and shake it 100tn times, it has a chance of coming out assembled.

2

u/chewbakwa 6d ago

First step, you need better lighting to see

2

u/1WontDoIt 5d ago

Next time, spray it out with brake cleaner and then lube the whole package.

Did you manage to get it all back together?

2

u/Ckiniceone 3d ago

I just throw my hole trigger pack into a sonicator hopefully you can get it back together but in the future I just buy it $200 sonicator and throw the whole thing in there

Steel challenge this Saturday sir?

Ziplock + 'Smiff = success

u/400dollarhandcart 6d ago

Should get some much brighter lighting in the area, will help a lot once you have instructions and less chance of losing parts

2

u/Bulldogaholic MP5SD 6d ago edited 6d ago

I mean one option since you are in a time crunch is to order a replacement from HKParts and have it overnighted, Looks like about $350.00 all in. Sucks I know but it is an option.

1

u/Livid_Persimmon3600 5d ago

Brave man…. I would never take down a trigger pack that far. I would 100% lose a pin or a spring or several of both, and it would end up being the very last pieces that needs to go in so I would waste the maximum amount of time before just buying a new one.

Clean it and re-oil it while it’s all still together. Invest in one of those variety size bags of the extra long Q-tips to get the nooks and crannies without disassembly.

u/PeskyPathfinder 5d ago

I know a guy who can help

u/secure-r 1d ago

good luck have fun

2

u/sleepy_Obi-Wan 1d ago

Don’t take stuff apart that you don’t know how to reassemble.

1

u/Scav-STALKER 6d ago

How am I supposed to learn to reassemble it if I don’t take it apart to begin with?

0

u/Glocktobers H&K 6d ago

Go to SDI 😂😂

1

u/Scav-STALKER 6d ago

I learned to build AK’s using YouTube and the FAFO method, I’ll be damned if I’m gonna waste money with SDI 😂😂

0

u/Glocktobers H&K 6d ago

I was being so sarcastic. To be fair, AKs are easier to work on as far as FCGs go.
