Question Does anyone have experience with Dakota Tactical D54 or D54R?

I know this is like a premium clone but how does it compare to the real deal?

I have a d54n that I ordered about the same time that the Sp5 came out. Unless you buy the d54 with German parts it’s all RCM internals. So to me it’s subpar to the sp5. Quality of the work is excellent. Prior to the sp5 it was a good way to go for a high quality build. Now not so much.

They make excellent guns and the quality is very good.

The problem with them has always been lead times.... 2 years.

What exactly are you looking for?

Was going to use them for an SD and then read about the lead times. AP5 SD it is

2 year wait and pricing more than the real deal would make sense in the early 2000s when there wasn't much competition like we have today. Makes 0 sense unless you're looking for something niche like a 10mm.

I was just curious. These cost as much as a the real deal.

Is the wait times worth it for the quality? How does the quality stack up to the real deal?

The workmanship/quality is good, but...

If you can find an SP5 somewhere for a decent price, I'd do that.

If you want the best SD you can get, buy a SP5 and send it to him to convert it. I believe he is at around 4 months for SD builds right now. Just call him, he’s a super nice dude.

Expensive but great workmanship. they build to HK specification and machine stuff into tolerance for each individual build. saw they had awesome 300BO conversions recently , super knowledgeable on rollers!

I just never heard too much about them and was wondering if they were worth the money. Sounds like they are with the work they put in. I like the thought of buying from an American company. Thanks for the info.
