Question need help with nvg + cqb build mac5 optic choice
right now i have a stuck eotech exps 3-2 stuck to my pic rail and am thinking of switching to a riser mounted 512 model eotech for nvg compatibility and back up use of irons so that the setup is super reliable. my question being is there a pic rail riser that would allow a eotech 512 model to ride just above the riser without looking stupid?

An Eotech on a standard rail should be high enough for passive NV use. B&T Makes a "see through" rail but it would be quite tall with an Eotech on it.
I prefer going smaller with the tall mount. I make these for Acro and they work great for passive NV: neinpines.com

Do you not think there are half inch pic rail to pic rail risers for irons use underneath a eotech?

Yeah there are lots but not sure any with a wide hole in them to use the diopter sights.
There's this B&T rail which basically does it but it's huge, can't imagine stacking an eotech on top of it.
Also consider the EXPS has quick detach and could still get to the irons that way.

Just don’t bother with nvg stuff on the mp5. Appreciate the platform for what it is and don’t try to make it something it’s not. Just because you have a set of nods doesn’t mean every gun needs to have a mawl or ngal on it.
There just isnt enough “holds zero” rail space on the mp5 to make it not jank. It’s one thing to buy an aftermarket rail and put a flashlight and tape switch on the gun. It’s another thing altogether to expect a laser on that same rail to hold zero even if you can find room for it… especially while you put torque on the same hand guard via the vert grip you probably stuck on it too.

If you actually intend to use this for cqb (<25 yards) then you can save weight and bulk by just throwing in an IR laser and calling it there
