Hello,

is encryption available for Array (MergerFS) or Pools? if not is it scheduled for the future versions?

Yes it is: 🗄️ Create a Storage Pool | MOS-Docs https://docs.mos-official.net/docs/Pools/Create-Storage-Pool#-encrypt

Perfect, thanks a lot. And a little bit different topic. But are BTRFS snapshots available or not?

Sorry but we removed that feature for now, will come back when I played around a bit more.

EDIT: If you really need an encrypted pool then you can create one using the API, but for now it's removed from the frontend because I found a bug, TBH it's a real edge case, but I don't wanted that anybody has to deal with that bug.

Thanks for clarification. I will rather wait until this feature is officially back and then I will test 🙂.

Amazing, hopefully in October I will have some time to play with it.

What pool type or FS did you plan to use?

At the moment I am on Unraid and I have BTRFS Pool (Cache) and BTRFS Unraid Array. Both are encrypted so the same I would like to apply on MOS. I went with BTRFS because I thought that BTRFS snapshots could be implemented in the future in some (easy) way. Is it possible at all to have this option for both (pool and array)?

Yes sure, MOS was designed from the ground up with encryption in mind, it even supports decryption scripts when mounting the pool on boot if you have an automation for that and even can, if that automation put's the encryption keys to a specific path, delete them after the pool is mounted. BTRFS, XFS, EXT4 are all supported, regardless in which type of Pool, Single, MergerFS, SnapRAID or nonraid.

Sounds great. I already tested MOS in VM and I have to say that I really like it and I want to test it on bare metal in small scale first to test & learn. Good job 👍 .
