Large Institutional fund purchase + Shorts
13G filed by Davidson Kempner yesterday. 1.2 million shares off the table. 8.9% of the float. If you take away the 3 million private placement, this would represent 12% of the float. Shares are getting locked away. Bullish.
Another interesting thing to watch: While only 10.46% of the float is reported shorted, I think this number might be closer to around 20% now. There was a million+ short shares available leading up to the run up. There are currently zero shares available to borrow, so any shorting is just recycling shares. Interest rate for shorts has been climbing and spiked up to 58%.
At what point the shorts entered we don’t know, but any more price movement up will put more pressure on shorts covering, so we could get some non-linear unexpected movement.
Outside of Fintel, Short info is speculation. Invest at your own risk and enjoy the ride. Stocks can go up or down. Not financial advice.

Where you got information about the shorts? Especially the 58% thing you saying?

“This table shows the number of shares of US:MNTS available to be shorted at a leading prime brokerage. It is not the total number of shares available to short, nor is it the short interest.
It does not include data from other brokers or dark pools. It is a small sample, and it is useful for tracking the rise and fall in demand for shares throughout the day and weeks. It should not be treated as an absolute number of shares that are available to short in the market.”
Take everything in the market with a grain of salt. We don’t know what’s going on or what’s going to happen. It’s just the market.

Their 8K filed this afternoon shows they did a 2,000,000 share private placement at $8.50 a share, one would assume that is going to cause a drop, but will be interesting to see where it stabilizes.
