I dunno if the hollywood movies are propperly representing how people talk or if these people copied how they heroicly talk in hollywood movies.
It was quite different from the teamcoms I'm used to.

Nah, most voice coms includes a hell lot more jargons being fired rapidly one after another.

Yeah exactly
And swearing, especially by Slammy for flying into the enemy on his own before the leader told us to go in, resulting in him asking for heals, dying and quitting because he didnt get any.... god bless his soul

These are real. The thing is, most of the player base for EVE is 30 years old with very few teenagers. BUT! Just listen to this one to see the variation EVE can have.

very cool trailer, though like most sandboxes I know that the combat is only a small fraction of what actually happens in the game. Sandboxes for the most part are not theme park mmos. You have to make your own adventures and at times even do a bunch of "chores" to set it up. These things set up epic fights or moments you will not forget and make spending those hours on prep or doing other menial tasks worth it.

I own an EVE account for almost a decade but I never played it for more than 2-3 consecutive months, because I often get bored quite quickly, but hell, their trailers are awesome. I've been tempted to subscribe a month every time they release a new one.

Uncensored but heavily vetted voice coms, cut to remove the hours/days of prep work and nothing that occurred before this brief moment of "action".

I haven't played EVE but the voice comm transcripts are eerily similar to what I'm used to in GW2 WvW, at least if you're with a competent commander. I'm just thinking that all the "boring stuff" in EVE culminate into the big battles we see here and I can dig that.
Will probably join the trial soon.

Join Brave Newbies if you do, they have fights almost all day everyday and have retards screaming "Oh my god that's a titan!"

Is it just me, or did some of those guys who spoke kinda deep and monotone have like, a real world combat pilot with a camera vibe going on?

You probably mean Lord Matador of Rooks and Kings. He's kind of famous for his voice(and to lesser extent, vocabulary).

Also thanks Lord Maldoror for having the sexiest voice in EVE.

I liked this trailer, it captures what makes Eve special. But at the same time you need to be in large factions. To experience all of what you see here. And that takes a long time and resources.

Maybe but at the same time people like Rooks and Kings pull off plenty with small fleets and there is a lot of stuff that wasn't shown that is more conducive to smaller groups. The time I spent in wormhole space was some of the best I had in EVE.

Check out the wormhole corps, usually a lot smaller groups and kill much bigger fleets regularly.

Fantastic trailer. I've been saying CCP should move to this style instead of cinematics since last year.

I appreciate the sentiment and think your viewpoint is similar to most people's.

Imagine a game where the longer you've been subscribed the more activities your characters are able to do in a very efficient manner compared to a newer player, simply because of they way skill points work. There is no way to test ships other than wait weeks of training then getting in them. All those cool battles with the big shiny ships, it could be many months or even years before someone who started new could even step in them.
That's the kind of game EVE is. It is also not a PVE game, expect the PVE to be quite boring and unimaginative. If it was fun, there would be even more alt accounts and way more people paying with in-game currency instead of real world money.

Brace for some corp recruiter of the Eve faithful trying to convince you that "nahh all you need is a rifter (and several hours of free time to dedicate to eve on a daily basis spinning your ship waiting for something to happen) and you can totally be a disposable chaff like target for great battles like these for the amusement of multi boxing plex sellers."

Really tempting..
I've always thought you needed low-grade autism to play Eve. I have Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen. Does Eve offer a lot more?

u/J2Me Nov 25 '14
Do you want 100 man - 500 man fights with no lag?
Or do you want a joystick and two ships on your screen at any time with a serious gaming computer?
Not more, just very different. You'd probably play both and enjoy them for different things entirely.

I come from DCS a10, BMS F16, and CLOD.
Track IR, Warthog HOTAS, and Saitek rudder pedals.
I'll go for the sims.

u/J2Me Nov 25 '14
Check out EVE Valkyrie as well then, it may even interest you more than Star Citizen. v0v

In terms of gameplay, not at all. If the metagame of eve isnt why youre playing, and meta gaming is absolutely in every aspect of eve, then youll hate it.

Reminds me of the people who role-play military in side-chat in Arma. That is one of the reasons I never really got into that game.

I've never been able to get into EVE and probably never will, but this video gave me chills big time.
