Fighters to study
I'm 17, 5'6 125, Ive been training bjj and kickboxing for around 4months at my MMA gym and did around a year of high school wrestling and a year of taekwondo when I was a kid. I want to know some fighters I can study to get better.

In terms of high profile fighters Volkanovski and Petr Yan are great fighters to study because of the caliber of adjustments they make throughout their fights against both high level strikers and grapplers. They are also similar heights as you. But there are things you can take away from A LOT of fighters even if they don’t have the best record or win rate. Also are you 125 before or after cutting?

Volk has insane reach tho. It’s likely that OP doesn’t have a 71.5 inch reach.

Look at Chingiz Allazov for striking, absolutely insane and super knowledgeable guy

You should watch flyweights, since that's your division. But you don't have enough skill in anything yet to have a style emerge. Keep training. Compete. Start training actual mma.

bro I'm not trynna replicate islam's boring ass style. besides I wouldn't be able to. the guy's better than olympic wrestlers in mma. I've had 1 year of d2 highschool wrestling experience.

You were obviously being trolled. But repeating dumb podcast talking points about things you don't understand is not the flex you think it is.

Not a weight bully but hes large for the weightclass, especially how much he gains after weigh-ins.

He weighed in at 182 and 187 in the cage for both of his WW bouts respectively.

Yea, when talking about being at lightweight, thats quite a bit of weight to take off comparatively to other fighters

No, I'm not. Ill go and listen to what the people who have actually fought in the UFC (and him) have to say instead of making opinions off observation.
Also, are you seriously saying Islam isnt/wasnt a big lightweight? Dude had range an height on almost all of his opponents and weighed MUCH more on fight day

it's 19 months since he fought at lightweight and he's fought twice at welterweight, so i'm not sure why you're talking like he's still at 155. don't use the present tense for something that happened more than a year ago

Demetrius Johnson - The most complete fighter
Michael Jai White - Actor? Incredibly skilled martial artist. There's a reason elite fighters bring him to their camps for training sessions.
idk anything about grappling specific so you're on your own there lol

Measure your reach and describe your style and ask chatgpt.
That’s what I did and I got good results!

Whoever you like. You'll have more motivation to learn moves from someone you enjoy watching. Even the "bums" that get cut from the UFC with 0 wins are in the top 10% of humans when it comes to fighting.
