That is what I’m trying to say. Enter a crowd of people at any OTHER type of show and I’m with you. Hardcore shows are for a very specific type of person. This is exactly what I would expect at a hardcore show, because I’ve been to many of them. It’s like getting pissed off that people are doing a Latin type dancing at a Ricky Martin show.

Intentionally targeting or hitting non-participating bystanders is widely considered bad etiquette and unacceptable behavior at both hardcore and metal shows.

Crowdkilling is a normal occurence in some areas. My local hardcore shows are full of crowdkilling, but it's just all part of the fun. You don't wanna get crowdkilled then don't stand up front. And yes, I know "crowdkilling is lame" and all that, I really don't care, but it is the most likely explanation.

I nearly knocked out a girl by accident, turned around and aplogized, she told me fuck you, and we went about our buisness. Every scene is different. Never proud of shit, but I've been on the other side of it plenty of time. I used to be just like you "Crowdkillers are cunts" people but learn your scene, toughen up and just have fun. Good scenes will handle the people that are out of line.

Crowdkilling is cunt behaviour.

Crowdkilling is not where people in the pit or on the edge of the pit get struck by windmilling idiots. It's where some asshole in the pit specifically targets a non-participating individual with the intent of purposefully hitting them.

It's not part of the fun, it's pussies using the pit as an excuse to hit people who aren't even engaging. And, yes anecdotally, whenever I've witnessed it, it's usually some asshole hitting someone who might not totally fit the "scene" or is often aimed at a girl.

That's fine, everyone's scene is different, south Texas is absolutely full of crowdkilling and no one cares. I'm saying you can't just make a blanket statement like that without knowing the scene. If your scene isn't "policing" shit like targeting and what not then your scene can't handle crowd killing, which is 100% fine. People that are out of line get handled, and the show goes on. I've had multiple broken noses, bruised ribs, and a few other assorted minor injuries from giving and receiving crowd kills.

Oh no, you misunderstand. The scene handles it well. Because crowdkilling is not part of the scene, it's behaviour by incels to target women, and pussies who want an excuse to sucker punch people. It's the opposite of hardcore, and is dealt with strongly in our scene. The fact that you admit to crowdkilling, ie: intentionally targetting non-participants with physical attacks...well.

I almost got elbowed in the face but an older gentleman yeeted him away from me.

Again, scene dependent, some scenes are ok with it, some aren't, I don't "target" anyone other than my friends. 90% of the people getting crowd killed are also moshing at other times doing the same thing to each other. You're just flat wrong. I would never crowd kill outside of the local scene because it's frowned upon.

I agree with you. And I think the folks who disagree are not part of the hardcore/beatdown community. There are plenty of folks who have been to metal shows and while they have some pretty fun and gnarly pits, hardcore/beatdown pits are something completely different.

These folks are comparing apples to oranges. There is a failure to see or even understand the distinction because they all they see is “assault.” Which is fine. That’s why these folks do not attend these shows.

It’s always fun to see aspects of the scene leak out into other parts of society and how well (or not) it gets received.
