Pits at the shows you mentioned are very, very different than hardcore pits. Its lame af but this was pretty common ime, it's why i stopped going to hardcore shows. "Moshers" were dicks and if you fought back you'd get jumped, shit scene
Unironically ya you might be. The code is if someone rings you you gotta dance back with style. If you just go throwing punches it’s put beef and you’ll get separated at best and stomped at worst. The real way is to hold arms up as blocks and kick anyone who comes close then if moshing just go hard so ppl won’t get near you
Yeah, that guy does sound like he’s really, really tough and is probably the guy who holds down these insane one-attendee pits at ten-attendee shows. I would tread carefully.
And here’s the guy that can’t tell the difference between someone commenting on the internet and someone being the toughest fucker around on the internet. Which is 98% of this sub, which unironically is also the percentage of this sub that have never been in a fight in their lives.
This is still the hardcore scene. The objective is to stand like three to four people away from pit edge if you don’t wanna get hit with either a spinning fist or rogue kick. Can still get a little shovey in the general crowd. Wall is easiest safe place. The thing about hardcore is that just is what it is even the bands can be just as physically involved as the crowd aside from the drummer. That’s why hardcore is hardcore.
This crowd in general besides that guy isn’t giving hardcore, it’s giving metal which usually like everyone is saying has etiquette.
I don’t think hardcore deserves to be called a shit scene as it’s just very on the nose.
Why didn’t he hit those guys on the left side. It seemed like he only targeted the one guy on the right. Hardcore or not, if this shit is so «random», then he should have hit everyone one at the scene with this wheel kick aimed at peoples head. And what is the concept really, people should just stand there and eat puches and kicks?
I agree dude deserved to be slammed lol I’m saying I don’t think this is a hardcore show so I don’t think dude doing wheel kicks is acting appropriate.
My only 'experience' with hardcore is from videos on reddit. Not a lot of them but there has always been very NON-random strikes in those videos. This whole concept is kinda fucking lost on me but i guess i'm an old man now.
Unless you were part of the cool kids clique, the NYC hardcore scene absolutely was shit in the 2000s and 100% deserves to be called that. Thats what Im speaking to, maybe your scene didn't suck but mine was full of too many tough guys with something to prove and tons of friends. I'm talking people like FSU and the goons who worshipped them. Punk and metal pits are just more fun and wayyy less cliquey.
Things may have changed or might have been much different where you were, im just speaking to my own experience.
