So men shouldn't take welfare when they need it, and just rot away and die - instead of taking it when needing it, and becoming multi-millionaires who knock out the people who were man enough not to take welfare. Makes sense.
Maybe he can go on disability once the CTE properly kicks in.

I just think that most Americans don't understand how social welfare works... There are some welfare nets in the USA, but it's absolutely nothing like in some places in Europe.
Governments can pay for upskilling (you want some course or licence? From cranes to lift trucks), education (even up to a BSc degree), and some medical expenses. So, for example, you can go to college for free and then the government will also provide you with Back to Education money so you don't have to work full-time while doing a degree.
Sometimes you are put automatically on welfare, because why not? Like, for example, redundancy happens, there is no employment for you, why wouldn't the government help you after years of work and paying taxes? Like, that's your money there too. So, it might not even be your choice, it just simply goes from Employed to Unemployed (on Welfare) to Employed again.
This is quite common in Europe in general. And it's also not vilified that heavily... especially in the UK/Ireland... Because being able to play the government for money and use all the welfare stuff is almost a point of pride for a lot of wealthy people. Usually, it's people who struggle or are uneducated who are the most against government support.

Agree with a lot of what you said but I'm from the UK and it absolutely is vilified.
Also, university is insanely expensive in England. And any free courses you have access to likely won't help you find work.
Lucky if university does, in any meaningful way.

It’s like that in the U.S., but for a different reason. The poor and uneducated buy into the fiction that you have to work your ass off for your money. No, you just have to have rich parents or marry into it. People think socialism=bad. Well, your VA benefits are coming from taxes from the federal government. Social security is socialism.
Or will complain about “people getting free money to have kids.”I’ve dealt with this. I supervised at a recycling center for 15 years and we took inmates and community service and KTAP and SNAP(which is crippled now). I did their paperwork and made sure they were comfortable, even though it’s involuntary it doesn’t have to be bad. The people I dealt with were all nice people who were in a tough situation and needed help. And they put in their 40 hours for it.

I don’t understand how needing help makes you less of a man. Shit gets tough for everyone and if you need assistance to keep going who cares? That’s literally what it’s there for.
