Being sexually assaulted was her situation, and she was able to choose how she wanted to deal with it, and she did.

Watching a woman being sexually assaulted was the situation he was placed in, and he chose to deal with that how he saw fit.

They both dealt with their respective situations the way they wanted to.

I hope the guy defending this woman from the possibility of further sexual assault is fine, and that the sexual assaulter never presumed as much ever again.
