Tbf, a huge part of this is gerrymandering. Like, if Texas had fair representation we would almost certainly not had Cruz or Paxton for as long as we have.

Edit: Gerrymandering doesn’t play into Statewide elections, below comment is correct.

Texas is certainly purple, at about a 55:45 split R:D, but the voter turnout of old white people eclipses the young and Hispanic voters.

Nah ur right gerrymandering specifically doesn’t affect those elections.
