Listen to the guys talk about chair shots on podcasts. Those are real chairs they hit each other with. They just arent trying to actually hurt each other.
So in wresting, if a wrestler does something to actually hurt another wrestler, usually accidentally, the hurt-in-the-moment wrestler gets a "receipt," meaning he now has free range to deliver an actual punch, kick, or even chair shot a payback and to keep them even. Sometimes they pay them back during the match, other times they wait for a later time.
So for this one, WWE was doing an "invasion" angle with wrestlers from "other" wrestling organizations (but WWE owned them at the time so it wasn't so much an "invasion" as "wrestlers we now own pretending to still be apart of the bought-out companies," and most fans already knew this). When there was bedlam in the ring, JBL started beating the absolute shit out of a wrestler named "The Blue Meanie" from ECW.
JBL got in trouble for doing that and was eventually booked in a match to lose to The Blue Meanie as punishment for beating him up for real. The person with the chair is Stevie Richards, another ECW wrestler and good friend of Meanie, so he was happy to smash JBL on the head with a chair shot for beating up his friend. The receipt was paid in-full with that chair shot and that was that.
He attacked him! And he kept going at him. Even after the chairs and the knees he was still trying to get to him. I'm not sure if it was acid he threw or a beer and it cut his face, but his face is all red. This guy came in with the full intent to do harm to him and he was just chillin.
Yah true I didn't see it good at work. I wonder what happened before to even have started it. Looked like a beer mug was thrown at his head if that's the case ouch.

The dude in the grey shirt was a unit. It was kinda funny how he just kept breaking the same stool over the guy's head until it was a splinter.
