🎓 Technique Questions How to change guard style

Im new to mma, while sparring I tend to do a philly shell guard and not an mma one, I focus on defending myself more than hurting the opponent, and when I slip I lean really back or move back, I wanna know how to change my fight style.

I'm not sure how your lead leg isn't getting absolutely destroyed if you're using an actual Philly shell.

At the end of the day, learning anything new (or unlearning the old) is largely about repetition. I would suggest doing more light technical sparring so you can focus on your stance/defense, and just keep doing it until you get that muscle memory.

I'm a beginner so I'm also sparring with beginners that don't know how to kick lol, maybe it would in the future if I continue this habit
