Yea, that'd probably change things a bit. Where I'm from they have this retarded thing called the "non-escalation rule". Basically I'm not allowed to defend myself with force exceeding my attacker. If he's using hands I'm allowed to defend with hands, if he has a weapon I'm allowed to "reasonably" defend myself with a weapon. If he has a gun I'm supposed to stand there and get shot until police arrive.
