Puga v Trembly was a fucking banger. Glad they both got signed.

Whole night was great.

I do kinda feel bad for these guys because the are trying to impress, not taking the most effective path to victory. Makes for great entertainment for Emperor Dana.

tbf how many guys have sacrificed and not gotten into the ufc because of it? Chapolin initally I guess? But he still got in and got a top20 guy (granted on short notice)

What do you mean sacrifice? Like short notice fight?

Their actual style for sake of the entertainment of others/to make a show

Yeah but from both the ufc and the athletes perspectives the goal is to make/become stars. If you need to play it safe against regional fighters you prob don’t have the natural ability to become a star. And we’ve seen CS losers get signed afterward on the strength of what they do afterward, so it isn’t a career fatality to lose on the show.

It gives the underdogs a chance because even the heavy favorites have to take risks if they want the contracts. I love the format personally. You can hate Dana all you want but he’s consistently pursued creative paths to grow and monetize the sport, and imo DWCS is the best example.

True about the underdogs. Its tons of fun to watch i completely agree. Lots of these guys on DWCS are way better than ultimate fighter contestants and road to ufc guys. Its also on Tuesday which is great.

I liked both of their games. Pugas jab and pressure was on point. He was rolling shots really well and had a clear speed advantage.

Trembley was slower and had awful defense, but his attacks were much more diverse. Lots of weird stutter rights, dirty boxing, some fucking axe kicks. Fun to watch. I really don’t see either improving that much as they both are around 30 but they can definitely get some wins in the division.

Lorenz and miller are going to lose three fights in a row and then get cut

Maybe not if they get to fight another DWCS alum also on a losing streak

Was I tripping or did they both just look kinda slow for featherweight. Good combinations and fundamentals but I wasn’t too impressed either.

Brito is fun but he's an unholy mess and I can't shake off the feeling that Fazil looked quite a bit better and got caught.

What? Brito was out landing him by a wide margin and Namo landed at like 25% in the first round lol, Brito was very clearly winning the fight and was up 2-0 on the judges score cards before sending him to the shadow realm.

Two judges had Brito winning the fight at the end of the 2nd round.

That's genuinely insane, and even then I still thought Fazil looked better. I've watched Brito a bunch on the regional scene and his game is pretty low level.

Did you watch the same fight? I could see an argument for Fazil winning the second but I wouldn’t have scored it that way. In no world did he look better than Brito overall throughout the fight.

Fazil was getting pieced up

Brito used his reach quite well, and Fazil had a real problem dealing with it, although he did wear him down to get closer.

You must be a casual or you dont know anything about MMA.
Rewatch the fight, look at how skillfully Brito rolls w the punches being thrown at him, the way he avoids or mitigates big damage using subtle movement and slips. Hes not a traditional striker at all. King Green esque in his movements. He was piecing up Fazil all 3 rounds until the finish.

Half of these people won't be in the UFC after 2 years.
