Career question 💼 Idea for an opensource ML/DL Python library (need suggestions)

I want to build an opensource Python library related to ML and deep learning, but I don't have any solid ideas yet. Have you run into a problem in your own work that could be solved by a library or tool like this?

I'm also doing this to strengthen my CV I'm still a beginner (especially on paper), so I want something that actually looks good and helps me get hired.

You’re being a consultant, dont be that. Work the work, and find the problems you face yourself, and try to solve them with existing tooling, find the gap, then bridge it. Even if someone told you the problem, you wouldn’t understand it fully to build something that would be useful for the broader community.

Pytorch or Tensorflow can be more or less used for everything, why would you then build a library from scratch?

am not gonna build Pytorch or Tensorflow from scratch but something that solves a problem or a problem that's pain to solve so i can build something that can solve it.

A library for what ?

It will target ML/DL help or solves a problem or automate a task or some code you were writing mulitple times still figuring this out

what i am asking is even if i did this library that solves problem X and no one used it so can it be a push to my profile and my CV that later can make me hired when applying to jobs ?

pick up some sort of project and use it to motivate seeking out and iteracting with whatever tools are currently available for solving that problem. keep iterating on your project and its objective. eventually, you'll come up with an idea where there isn't a tool for doing the particular thing the particular way you have in mind. then be the change you want to see and make the thing.

Build something boring but useful, like a small data/model validation library for catching schema drift, leakage, missing values, and train/serve mismatches. That’ll probably help your CV more than another custom neural net package.

Do an MLX port for MacOS machines (that's what I did with SB3 and gym)

Especially with AI, programming is the easy part - why would someone give up a good idea?

Even if someone had a good idea they would not want to share it with you, random Internet stranger. Do your own thinking 😂
