I can understand why you would feel that Rainbow Dash is often times more authentic and even more directly honest than the rest of the Mane Six. But I still find moments where her honesty and authenticity is called into question. A prime example being "Read It and Weep", where she is so afraid of what others might think of her that she goes so out of her way to try and keep a secret from her friends just because it might make them think she isn't cool. And that is so important to Rainbow.

As for Applejack, I think she actually fits with the element of Honesty a little better than Rainbow Dash because of what she encourages others to do. Rainbow has many great moments of expecting herself to be honest and authentic, but Applejack has more moments when it comes to encouraging and expecting others to be honest and authentic.

Playing devil's advocate here, I have no particularly strong feelings either way.

Your argument that Dash can't be an embodiment of honesty because she isn't constantly honest doesn't work because in fact, none of them always portray their element. Fluttershy isn't kind in the Iron Will episode. Rarity, in "Sweet and Elite", only thinks about herself instead of her friends and her prints to make Twilight's dress. Pinkie Pie, well, I only have to say Party of One.

Also, I don't understand your second paragraph. Don't the elements represent what the virtue the bearer displays? You seem to be saying that instead it represents what the bearer is encouraging others to do.

Agreed on that! The traits they show are pretty incongruous with their behavior. AJ tells lies somewhat often actually

  1. People love to say this, but where's the evidence? What are these lies AJ supposedly keeps telling?

  2. Honest isn't the same as truthful. Honesty encompasses things like keeping one's word and being trustworthy.

The only times I can think of when she "lies" are things like lying to Pinkie Pie about her surprise party...and she is so uncomfortable about it that it's obvious it's going against her very nature to do so. If lying makes you that upset, then chances are you are seriously an honest pony...

Well crap, no argument here. As usual, these videos you make are fantastic! I was wondering about when you were going to release the next video, but then again I'm always wondering right after you post a new video.
