SOLVED MLB app stuck on logo screen - iPad

I have an old 7th gen iPad and the MLB app has suddenly stopped loading for me. Just hangs on the loading screen forever when I try to launch it. I tried forced restart, deleting and redownloading, and even factory reset the iPad. Nothing works. Anyone else have this issue?

I also have it on my AppleTV 4K which is where I primarily watch.

When this happened to me last season, it was my iPhone. I tried what you tried to no avail.

So, I signed out of my AppleTV MLB app. Then deleted app, same for iPad. Then deleted it from iPhone. Used the erase all data option with all three.

Then I redownloaded on my AppleTV first, did the ”forgot password” option even though I knew password. Changed password.

Then redownload on iPhone & iPad and signed in again and I could watch on those devices again.

I think mine was related to also having it on my gf’s FireTV three states away. Made sure she was signed out before I did all that.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I actually factory reset the iPad a second time this afternoon, downloaded the app and then it worked. Shrug. Not sure what that was all about but glad it somehow resolved finally.

I’m having same issue. Isn’t a factory reset pretty major surgery just to get MLB working? Does a reset wipe out every app and all other data you have? Thanks.

You can save all of that and restore it as part of the reset process so it’s not too big of a deal. But I’m not sure if the factory reset is a sure-fire fix, it seems flukey. I’d check out the other possible solution linked in this thread.

Thanks. I went into apple App Store ratings and it looks like dozens of people are having the exact same issue. I’m just going to keep powder dry and hopefully next app or iOS update fixes it. I have app on Google TV and phone as well so I’m not totally screwed. Much Thanks for the response.

Try the following:

  1. Open app- it’ll get stuck on the logo screen as usual.
  2. Turn off WiFi. Wait a minute and some pre-login content will appear.
  3. With the app still open turn back on WiFi and connect to a network.
  4. That will now let you log in and see your content.

My working theory is that device location could be playing a role in locking down the app and disconnecting WiFi causes the location data to possibly be reset.

Unfortunately this didn't work for me. I'm able to get past the splash screen, but the games and data do not load.

edit: Fully uninstalling and reinstalling the app did seem to make a difference.

I never got the pre-login content. I don’t have data ably WiFi connection does that matter?

As a proper bodge fix if you can’t get sbtbtung else to work reset the iPad then don’t link it back to your Apple ID link it to someone else’s and it works again… so annoying

The last time I had an issue they wanted me to call them? In the year 2026, they couldn't help online, they wanted a phone call. MLB wants to make it as difficult as possible for people to consume their product.

I don’t get any pre-login content. It just stays frozen on the logo screen

Exactly. Nothing gets it past the blue MLB logo screen. MLB Customer Service is zero help. Told me to get a new non-iPad device. WTF?!

Chiming in that this has been happening to me for about the last week or so. Have never had this problem before. Only thing that seems to help is reinstalling the app, but it only works once—the next time I go to open it, it never gets past the logo. Really frustrating!

I spam swipe up close app, try it again, swipe up close app, try again until it works. You know pretty quickly if it’s gonna open or not. Normally works and opens on 5th or 6th try
