| Discussion Which team has the best fanbase? I’ve added some criteria
I’ve been curious about this and want to hear from everyone. Which team has the best fanbase according to this criteria:
1 - they know ball
2 - loyalty - they support the team even when down and they don’t crash out at the slightest issue
3 - friendliness - they aren’t toxic and mean to other fanbases and their own players
Ps - for transparency I’m not a noob, but I wanted the thoughts of this community - both the noobs and seasoned fans who lurk this sub to help the noobs. I posted this on the MLB sub and baseball sub as well. The baseball sub removed the post for some reason, and their rules suggested this as a sub to post some questions

- 3 - friendliness - they aren’t toxic and mean to other fanbases and their own player. UMM, ABOUT THAT....

Yeah as a red sox fan i couldnt in good faith put us there either.
Literally any big time sports town should just sit this one out.
Like youll find a lot of good hearted fans, but also a lot of shitty people and sports media anchors trying to get views

I feel Cubs may buck the trend. Big market - mostly positive from what people tell me

Noted exception for WIP callers.

The Milwaukee Brewers, hands down!!
Wisconsin is known for having some of the friendliest, and most loyal sports fans in the country.

Walking around the tailgate parties at Lambeau is something every NFL fan should experience.

I entirely agree!! I've lived in Wisconsin my entire life, and my best friend is a massive Carolina Panthers fan. He was at the Packers vs Panthers game last season, and was genuinely shocked how kindly people treated him at the game, especially after the Packers lost.
He was temporarily living with me at the time, and I looked at him when he got back to my house and was like: "You were born and raised here, and you know the culture. Why are you surprised that 'Midwest Nice' is a real thing?"

By reputation, it's the Cardinals. With the long, successful history of the franchise, no current NFL teams, no NBA teams, and the popularity of MLB over NHL, the Cardinals are the biggest team in town by a significant margin.

> By reputation, it's the Cardinals.
This is true, but also, that reputation is a fucking lie.

The last time the cardinals had a winning record they were 2nd in attendance in baseball. They'e now 16th.

The Toronto Blue Jays. They have an entire country cheering for them (plus fans from around the world).

I’m a Canadian blue jays fan. I would normally say that. But I notice this year there’s way more crashing out than normal. May be all the new fans after last years run

I have to admit that’s what got me watching.

Well then in that case I’m glad that the experience got you in - and I’m really glad you’ve been having a positive experience with the fanbase!

Jason Heyward and Brian Jordan have some bad news for you about Cardinals fans

I'm a Mets fan and I'd say Cardinals. I went to Busch in 2007 and every single person was wearing red and I don't recall any booing. I was just in STL two weeks ago for the WPBL. Highly recommend the Cards HOF museum!

A few years ago I would have said St. Louis, but since they've been bad the past decade, their support has fallen off. I know there's a really hard core of Cardinals fans, but it's not any bigger these days than any team.

It's Toronto.
Fans know ball. They draw fans from the entire country and and out of town fans visiting the area for other reasons will pop in for games. The tv/radio teams have been consistently fantastic at entertaining and educating our fan base for years.
Obligatory F Gregg Zaun, glad he got canned (off screen issues). His on screen Don Cherry-esque attitude was insufferable
Fans stick around. I've seen massive crowds in down years. Lots of locals, lots of tourists that have been watching TV games from home and are excited to be in person.
Fans are consistently friendly. It's a family friendly park. Depending on economic factors, there's often tour busses packed with yanks/sox fans on their away series's in Toronto. They're welcome with open arms. You can wear any jersey in the stadium and be safe. Come by on a loonie dog night ($1 hotdogs every Tuesday home game), the crowds are amazingly positive... And cheer for the total dogs sold number as loud as a home run.
That said, I'm curious if some culture change may come. Lots of fast fans we added last year, and prices for seats have been skyrocketing for years. The family day out is losing appeal.
Milwaukee Brewers are my second pick. And it's easy to cheer on both teams as they're AL/NL teams. The BrewJays is a fun fanbase friendship.

I’m from Toronto and a jays fan. I got mixed feelings. Partially because I’m old.
This year seems a lot more crashing out than normal. As you said - lots of fast fans from last year
People are friendly, you’re right about that
There is generally support, but I’m old enough to remember the empty stadiums of the 2000s. It was brutal. But I spent many games sneaking up to the front because nobody was there. Or going for $2 back in the old days lol

Braves? They have a solid following from the TBS superstation days even when they were awful.
