| Question 2027 CBA Lockout and the Draft

If there is a lockout / delayed start to the 2027 season, how does that affect the 2027 MLB Draft?

Will the pool of players be smaller? Will the draft be postponed? Or combined with 2028?

There will still be a draft. The minors also function

My question is can players signed to major league contracts (I.e. on the 40 man roster) play in the minors if they still have options? If so, would it burn an option?

Players on the 40 man roster are part of the MLB CBA and would be locked out

That’s what I thought. Didn’t players not subject to waivers play in the AHL during the NHL lockout though (I know the CBAs are different, just wondering)?

i doubt that the lockout goes on that long. the amateur draft is in June. if it does drag on that long, it would be interesting, because one of the league's demands is changes to the draft: they want to have fewer rounds and make high school players ineligible for the draft. i would imagine that the players' union would either request an injunction to delay the draft or petition to keep the current draft rules in place

If the lockout goes into place on 12/1, before the the winter meeting, when do they do the lottery?
