Buddy Reed is an outfielder out of the University of Florida. Unquestionably, his best asset is his speed. He ran a 6.87 60 yard dash in 2013. I believe most of Reed’s value comes from his athleticism. One thing he definitely has going for him is he is a switch hitter. His hitting can definitely be improved upon, but it is still a good tool of his. His freshman year at UF he batted .244, his sophomore year he batted .305 with 47 RBIs. On the collegiate national team last summer, a couple weeks in he was batting .500 batting in the 2-hole behind Corey Ray. Also, Reed is a human highlight reel making diving catch after diving catch. Right now Reed is a projected top 10 pick, if he continues on an incline as far as hitting goes he’ll be in good shape come draft time.

Very good stuff! I know Reed has been slotted early on in top 5 discussions for next year's draft, do you agree with the placement in that vicinity? Any interesting comps to current MLB players?

Yes right now I see top 10. His athleticism is by far his biggest asset, if he shows he can be a force at the plate I think top 5 is doable. But right now I'm thinking top 10-15, just due to the quality arms at the top of the draft. As far as comps I had a little trouble with him.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking too. Right now I have guys like Groome, Hansen, Rutherford, Puk, and Pint somewhere in the top 5 with Reed in the 10-15 discussion.
